Snowman in the classroom...Ohm My! A wonderful way to start off the New Year with this cute Snowman lantern craft. Hanging from the ceiling or sitting on a shelf your kiddos will love creating and putting on their own personal touches to this Frosty the Snowman. A great craft to practice listening skills, fine motor skills and math patterning skills. I am planning to have my kiddos create this little guy the first week we are back from our Winter Break. Pirates in the Classroom…Oh My! A wonderful, creative way to decorate your room for a Pirate themed unit. Pirates hanging from the ceiling or sitting on the shelf, your kiddos will love creating and putting on their own personal touches. These units are designed in a Mix and Match format. You are able to pick the pieces that you want, depending on the needs and the abilities of your students. There are so many different possibilities. Each lantern creation is designed with a printed lantern template and a blank template. Blank templates are intended for your kids to come up with their own designs or you can have your kids color, cut out and glue on the Pirate faces. So many ways to create the Pirate hats using glitter, paper layering, leaves, shredded paper, cotton pieces, tissue paper... Make sure to add the Pirate legs and eye patch…too cute! In my classroom, creating the basic lantern will take my kiddos about 90 minutes (coloring and assembly). Adding on hats, hair, arms, legs and other bits and pieces will take me an additional 45 to 60 minutes. 3D Black Bear Research Model A creative, integrated research project, classroom decoration and 3D model all rolled into one Cute Black Bear Activity. Your kiddos will be delighted on work on this creative research and 3D Bear Model. This is not your average research project! Paper lanterns are great for developing fine motor skills such as: folding, coloring, painting, gluing, cutting, listening and following directions. Embedded within this Black Bear Craft there are several activities to extend your students learning about Black Bears. These units are designed in a Mix and Match format. You are able to pick the pieces that you want, depending on the needs and the abilities of your students…so many possibilities. This unit can be approached in several ways. Either as a quick Black Bear Craft that will take about 120 minutes to complete. Or as long, in-depth Black Bear research project that will take upwards of a week to complete. With my kiddos, I have them spend a great amount time coloring their Black Bears as closely to the naturally occurring colors…this becomes a great observational and attention to detail project. I love teaching the kids how to layer and blend colors to create 3D dimensional optical effects. Looking for the Pot of Gold at the end of the Rainbow? This St Patricks Day craft is the perfect way to decorate your classroom for March. I use this craft when I teach the colors of the Rainbow and my weather units. My kiddos love creating these colorful paper lanterns. These units are designed in a Mix and Match format. You are able to pick the pieces that you want, depending on the needs and the abilities of your students. There are so many different possibilities. These rainbow templates have been designed with both color sequences in mind. Primary grades: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. Intermediate grades: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. Trim top designs: clouds, leprechauns, gold coins, shamrocks or St. Patrick’s Day Trim bottom designs: leprechauns, gold coins, shamrocks or grass fringes. This unit can be approached in several ways. Either as a quick Earth Day project that will take about 90 minutes to complete. Or as long, in-depth project that will take upwards of a week to complete. In my classroom, creating the basic lantern will take my kiddos about 90 minutes (coloring and assembly). Adding on each Heart will take an additional 45 to 60 minute block of time. I normally read an Earth storybook for my Kiddos. We create one heart for each Earth related book, writing and drawing one element that is important. I use this Earth Day project as the center piece for my Environmental Education for Earth Day. 3D Groundhog Day Craft and Science Related Research A creative, integrated research project, classroom decoration and 3D model all rolled into one Cute Groundhog Activity. Your kiddos will be delighted on work on this creative research and 3D Bear Model. This is not your average research project! Paper lanterns are great for developing fine motor skills such as: folding, coloring, painting, gluing, cutting, listening and following directions. Embedded within this Groundhog Craft there are several activities to extend your students learning about Groundhogs. These units are designed in a Mix and Match format. You are able to pick the pieces that you want, depending on the needs and the abilities of your students…so many possibilities. This unit can be approached in several ways. Either as a quick Groundhog Craft that will take about 120 minutes to complete. Or as long, in-depth Groundhog research project that will take upwards of a week to complete. With my Kiddos, I have them spend a great amount time coloring their Groundhogs as closely to the naturally occurring colors…this becomes a great observational and attention to detail project. I love teaching the kids how to layer and blend colors to create 3D dimensional optical effects. I often spend a period working on the Poppy picture creating a beautiful detailed multimedia painting. These are great to work on shading details in poppies…tones and tints of red. I love adding texture to the poppies with the use of tissue paper. Then we will spend a period tracing a Poppy Poem and colouring in the boarder. With other grades, we will compose our own poems about Poppies and Remembrance Day. Then another block putting the project together.
