Number of the Week
An A4 activity sheet for maths. You choose a number for the week and children have to fill in the relevant information such as:
The number written in words
The number of ones/tens/hundreds/thousands the ‘number of the week’ has
The number written in expanded form
10/100 more and less than the ‘number of the week’
Placing the number on a number line
Representing the number in different ways (this sheet has a bar model and place value counters but this can be changed to dienes, abacus etc.)
Writing a word problem with the ‘number of the week’ as the answer
This document can be edited to suit the needs of your class.
I use mine as an early morning task for children to complete as they come into class and settle themselves for the day.
Chinese New Year - Initial Sounds Activity
A wheel showing the 12 animals linked to Chinese New Year. Children need to identify each animal and write the initial sound for each one.
How is soil formed?
A short story on PowerPoint explaining how ‘Roger Rock’ becomes ‘Simon Soil’. There is also a storyboard on a word document which explain the process of how soil is made - children just need to draw their own pictures.
I used this in a Year 3 science lesson and the children loved making their own storyboards!
What to do if you need help (poster)
Does anyone else get asked (especially at the start of the year) for lots of help from their pupils? I use this poster to “train” my class to use different things in the classroom before coming to myself/my TA for support. I put large copies up on display and smaller copies on tables. Both writing and pictures makes the poster accessible for all abilities! Enjoy!
Book Band Tracker
Want to track the progress of pupils reading in your class? My editable book band tracker allows you to do this! From cream to black book bands (you can edit the order if needed), you can use this to quickly and easily identify which book bands pupils are on and identify potential groups for guided reading, those needing interventions, pupils needing to be benchmarked etc.
I use the left hand column to add children’s names and then tick/date each book band as children achieve them.
Hope you find it useful! :)
