Also this is just the presentation, there is also a millionaire game on here somewhere. This is not the whole lesson. 2) I have put I have played to get the students to understand the formation. Please feel free to explain the whole I have played / I played thing orally, as I do.

Mark out of 10 2 versions on the sheet. This is my way of discouraging cheating. I give the tests out alternately so the people sat next to each other have the questions in a different order. I don’t tell students this, I just do it. I collect for marking.

A day out a the beach using a Sentence Builder to describe a seaside town, what there is in a town and say why we like it, what you can do there We re-wrote our SoW to be more relevant to our local context and we love Skegness, our nearest seaside town You could of course change the name of the town to your closest resort, I hope it’s as fun as Skeg Lots of activities and EPI style content of course

Spanish KS3 where I live, my house, jobs in the house Simple worksheets to build up students’ vocabulary on saying where they live (town, village, beach, mountains, north, south) and then what rooms are in that house. I try to make them so students can work without too much teacher input - one of the sheets was an hour’s cover I had to set and it seemed to go well! Moves on to jobs in the house

Spanish talking about Christmas

A vocab and sentence building sheet for students to write about Christmas, plus a battleships game to play afterwards. Students fill in vocab Spanish to English and vice versa. Then they use the sentence builder (modals) to write about Christmas. The battleships game they see as a reward but in fact they have to read sentences many many times to win.

A scaffolded worksheet with the aim of getting students to write about their Christmas in French. Starts off with vocab into English then French. Sentence builder to get students to translate sentences into French using modals. Followed by three model paragraphs - all very similar with details changed. I was going to use the opportunity to revise telling the time and daily routine. Students are asked to complete three gapfilled translations into English then translate one back into French. Finally they should be able to write about their own Christmas. If they have worked very nicely there is a battleships game to play too

Revision booklet for Allez 1 Unit 3 Autour de Moi

Six pages of revision that I prepared for my year 7 students to use independently. We are using the textbook Allez and our upcoming assessment will rely heavily on Unit 3 with some vocabulary from the first two units thrown in. The revision booklet covers vocabulary, sentences and translation. There is a Foundation GCSE style writing activity with support down the left- hand side of the page. This booklet would be ideal for a cover lesson. There is also a version with the answers.

French GCSE writing on social problems (helping the homeless)

Worksheet going from vocabulary to sentences to writing a 90 or 150 word piece about social problems for GCSE French. Starts with focussing on the topic vocab (French to English, the English to French). Then moves to translating sentences into English and similar sentences into French. A sentence builder to make sentences that will be useful in the writing. There is an example 90 word answer with gapped translation and word find activity. Finally students write their own 90 word piece using what they have learnt and can move on to 150 words.
French GCSE speaking and writing about holidays

French GCSE speaking and writing about holidays

Three worksheets I use to get GCSE French students speaking and then writing about past holidays oral translation sheet: students use the example to take it in turns (in pairs or threes?) orally translating sentences using the example to help. The sentences start very simple and add a bit each time to get harder. I follow this up by asking them to do a written translation of about 5 of them. trapdoor activity: pair work. Each student selects ONE of the options (in secret) and takes it in turns to read the paragraph to their friend guessing each time which option their friend has chosen in a sentence. Their turn finishes when they make a mistake. Of course this means they will read the sentences a lot of times! spot the difference: several similar but slightly different paragraphs about a holiday. Highlight differences, pick out what they mean then write your own similar one.

No et Moi A level French

I started using a commercial resource to teach No et Moi but it was taking too long to get through the book so recently I have made some worksheets to go with each chapter, a summary in English and specific work on a paragraph or two, sometimes a link to a textivate, sometimes some questions I do as a sort of running comprehension, sometimes translation or summary to help with paper 1. Anyway they may be useful to someone else who is having to hurry up a bit. Enjoy

Form time Jubilee discussion cards

Some (not too controversial) questions I have typed up to make discussion cards for my form for the Jubilee. I’m hoping to have a bit of cake and a chat. I thought we could sit in small groups, I’ll put a set of cards for each group in an envelope, it will start a discussion. My form are year 12 if that helps.
