Science Teacher and Marathon Runner! I graduated top of my class from the University of Limerick (BSc with concurrent teacher education) in 2015 and having taught in the Irish and UK system I have a in depth appreciation for curriculum. I currently teach Biology and Chemistry at A-Level and GCSE science in London. I am passionate about science and thoroughly enjoy creating resources, please feel free to review my resources.

Biology Literacy Framework

(0)
Demonstration of how to interpret command words and how to show your thought process when responding to extended writing Q. These slides offer some examples and can be used as a basis to build a greater bank of model answers / model approaches.

The Electrophilic substitution reaction of Benzene

(0)
This lesson allows the students to see that ALL electrophilic substitution reactions of benzene progress by the same mechanism: 1 - formation of the electrophile in situ; 2 - attack of the electrophile on the ring; 3 - reformation of the catalyst. 6.1.1 (d) The electrophilic substitution of aromatic compounds with: (i) concentrated nitric acid in the presence of concentrated sulfuric acid (ii) a halogen in the presence of a halogen carrier
The development of the model of Benzene

The development of the model of Benzene

(0)
This lesson looks at how scientific knowledge develops over time as more evidence becomes available. It is also a chance to review the shapes of atomic orbitals as it builds on knowledge of side-on overlap of the p-orbitals to form the delocalised pi ring of electrons. Students meet the arenes in year 12, but only in passing, so they will have little idea as to the molecular and structural formula of benzene.
