Hi! I'm Marie. From experience as a primary teacher, I enjoy creating sets of teaching resources (often with my own illustrations!) for introducing and teaching school topics, and with practical activities. Hope you find something useful. Happy teaching! :)
Use this pirate’ facts and quiz set as a fun way to quickly teach about pirates of the Caribbean islands.
Once displayed on wide screen, go through the whole PDF document by reading first a Fact page followed by a Quiz page - children then record their answers on the printed Quiz sheets. When finished, you can display the answer sheets (end of document) and then the children can count the number of correct answers. Celebrate with certificates :)
The set includes:
1 PDF – Facts and Quiz (questions + answers)
1 PDF – Quiz Recording Sheets + Certificate
The sequence:
The Golden Age of Piracy
Caribbean Islands
Fearsome Thieves
Spanish Treasure
Port Royal
Pirate Ships
Strict Rules
Life Onboard
Buried Treasure
Famous Pirates
Before you start: Print out the 2 Quiz recording sheets.
You can put them back to back and laminate them to make 1 document that can be used multiple times. Children can use board pens to tick answers. Or print for each child as a way to assess learning and keep in their exercise books.
Please check out my other pirates resources including worksheets for story writing and comparing fiction and non-fiction texts.

DT / Food / Little Red Riding Hood
This unit can be used alongside the story of Little Red Riding Hood. It provides opportunities for the children to use food technology to create a healthy food product suitable for the grandmother and link it to their storytelling.
Included:
• Planning
• Eatwell Healthy Diet Posters
• Sweet And Savoury Muffins - Picture Flashcards
• Sensory Vocabulary - Posters + Labels
• Worksheets
• Target Sheet (LO)
This unit develops children’s knowledge and understanding of the importance of healthy eating and the differences between sweet and savoury foods. They investigate and compare different flavoured muffins and describe the appearance, taste and texture of each muffin. They practice making sweet and savoury muffins following two different recipes. Once baked, the children compare the muffins tastes and textures. Using a tally chart, they find out which type of muffin is the most/least favourite in the class. After testing different ingredients that contribute to a healthy diet such as vegetables and pulses, the children then illustrate their own savoury muffins and choice of ingredients. They write instructions, list ingredients and equipment using a recipe template. They talk about their finished product, and record how it looks and how well it matches their original ideas.

The PowerPoint briefly describes the history of the Christmas tree and the differences between modern day Christmas trees.
Part 1: describes the origins of the Christmas tree from Pagan celebrations to German traditions and why it became a worldwide custom since Victorian times. It shows some famous Christmas trees used for public display around the world.
Part 2: describes present day production, sales and impact on the environment of Christmas trees, including real and artificial trees. Children are asked to make comparisons and to briefly describe which tree is better for appearance, cost, convenience, transportation, longevity, disposal, allergies and safety. It ends with reviewing how Christmas trees affect our environments and what people can do better to save them.
The PowerPoint provides questions and answers to check the children’s understanding.
