Evaporation and distillation - complete lesson (KS3)

(2)
A full differentiated lesson on the topic of evaporation and distillation. This lesson is based on the activate 2 SOW and pitched to a year 8 group. Support sheets and stretch activities facilitate the progress of more and less able throughout the lesson. This slide set can work with, or without a demonstration of distillation equipment. Answers to learning checkpoints are incorporated into the slide set via power point animation and the inclusion of timers promotes pace.
Acids and alkalis - complete lesson (KS3)

Acids and alkalis - complete lesson (KS3)

(0)
A complete lesson based on the activate 1 SOW and pitched to a year 7 class. The lesson is differentiated with the use of 'stretch' activities and support sheets for more and less able respectively. The differentiated question grid challenge pushes all abilities within the group. A fun whiteboard activity is included relating to hazard symbols. This lesson includes timers to promote pace, and powerpoint animations to facilitate Q/A during review of answers at each learning checkpoint.
Acids and metals - complete lesson (KS3)

Acids and metals - complete lesson (KS3)

(0)
A complete differentiated lesson (including practical) based on the activate 2 'acid and metals' content. The lesson includes and introduction to the topic, outline of practical, prediction/conclusion writing and a differentiated question grid 'challenge' to act as a plenary. Timers are included to promote pace and all answers are incorporated into the slides via animation. This lesson was delivered to a year 8 group, all abilities supported.

Metals and oxygen - complete lesson (KS3)

(0)
A complete lesson on metals and oxygen based on the activate 2 SOW. The lesson includes a practical demonstration where students fill in a observation sheet and produce (simple) balanced equations. If you can get pure oxygen from the techies you can really promote a love of learning with this. A choice of 2 plenaries are included, reflective writing or whiteboard based. Answers to each learning checkpoint are incorporated into the slides via animation. Timers are included to promote pace.

A demonstration is then conducted where metals are reacted with water and then dilute acid (instructions included). During this demonstration students must determine the order of the reactivity series. The students will then independently attempt questions based on the demonstration they have observed. As a final plenary students will reflect on their progress against the learning objectives. All answers are included in the slides, with animation to facilitate questioning during self/peer correction. Timers are included to promote pace.
