Rhythm Rolling Game
This is a great series of rhythm worksheets for developing rhythm writing and performance skills. Students roll dice, write the corresponding rhythm in the boxes provided, and then perform their newly created rhythms. Each sheet introduces different rhythms (i.e. quarter notes, rests, syncopations, etc.). As an extension opportunity, staff paper is included on the back of each worksheet to set the rhythms to pitch along with a helpful, color-coded and labeled staff with notes. There are 7 different worksheets included, each featuring different complexity of rhythms.
As a bonus, I have also included a blank worksheet so that you can custom-make this activity, based on whatever rhythms you choose to write in.
Escape the Music Room
This is a fun, escape room themed activity for a music class that also reinforces musical concepts. There are 7 different puzzles to solve using music knowledge such as rhythmic values, tempo markings, and note names. It is possible to set this up in a single classroom and have stations for the clues. If you have the space, it also works to use breakout spaces for separate clues. My middle schoolers loved it and generally solved it in 30-40 minutes. My Grade 5 pupils worked through the escape room with some hints, but were able to complete it with help.
Fair warning, this entire escape room is based on a musical pun so if you are into punny jokes, this one is for you!
Included:
All clues in PNG format
Answers to all of the clues
A walkthrough/set-up suggestions
One clue needs to be on a piano. A picture of a piano can work in a pinch

This is a great reference tool for students who want to develop music-specific terminology. There are 8 pages of vocabulary defining words that are often used to describe structure, harmony, melody, rhythm, dynamics, articulation, tempo, texture, instruments, music history, and music technology. The same 8 pages are then copied for you twice to make this as adaptable to your lessons as possible; once with the terminology and no definitions and once with neither words or definitions.
