This is a great series of rhythm worksheets for developing rhythm writing and performance skills. Students roll dice, write the corresponding rhythm in the boxes provided, and then perform their newly created rhythms. Each sheet introduces different rhythms (i.e. quarter notes, rests, syncopations, etc.). As an extension opportunity, staff paper is included on the back of each worksheet to set the rhythms to pitch along with a helpful, color-coded and labeled staff with notes. Finally, here is a fun way for students to learn about composers!!! In this five-part unit, students engage in self-directed research about a composer of their choice to become class experts. They present the information they find in a creative manner and culminate with the creation of a parody of a folk tune based on their composer.
