An easy to follow lesson for remote learning/independent use, based around a children’s cartoon video in French of how to make pancakes. Instructions are on each slide as to which part of the video to follow and answers to questions appear upon clicking. Pupils will use a bilingual dictionary or an on line one to find the meaning of ingredients, learn how to make pancakes then have the choice to create a dream pancake with fillings, label in French, or make pancakes at home with an adult.

This lesson( Power Point with embedded sound files and student task sheets) has a phonic focus and is based around a poem by Nathalie Bonneau on You Tube called “Une histoire de coeurs”.Pupils learn the names of some animals in French and practice the key sounds of the graphemes they contain. They make sound-spelling links by hearing new words that contain the sounds, and identify these from a list. They then listen to and repeat the poem to reinforce the key sounds. Pupils use a bilingual/online dictionary to translate the poem into English, then adapt parts of it to create their own.

The work is based around a video report from the French current affairs programme Sept à huit. It follows the impact of C-19 on the livelihood and living conditions of Séverine, a French baker in a French ski resort.The lesson is split into two parts and transcripts are provided for both so that students can follow as they listen. Section one: The introduction is a matching phrases to their definitions in French, followed by listening to the first part of the report then completing gapped sentences in French and translating these into English.Pupils finish the first section by answering comprehension questions in French.
