Aligned with the new Welsh Nursery curriculum (funded non-maintained nursery settings) for the mandatory assessment areas. Questions to prompt and examples to support what we may observe and record in terms of children’s development, learning and progress during play and daily routines. The descriptions are not exhaustive. All are from the official document : https://hwb.gov.wales/api/storage/c05430f0-b9d3-4d5e-92a3-8ec30a60ddf1/assessment-arrangements-for-funded-non-maintained-nursery-settings.pdf

Micro habitats of the world - 6 PPTs

I made these as part of our ongoing habitat project in which the pupils made dioramas of their chosen habitats. They had looked at the larger animals that live in these habitats so I developed these PPTs for each pupil so that they start to understand the complexity of each habitat. Each PPT has an introductory video (under 10 mins) to support understanding of the task. Task is to place the correct insects/small animals onto the habitat picture. Each pupil will need to explain why they think it is suited to its habitat (adaptations) and think about whether it is predator or prey. My class are ALN (SEN) so I have a classbook that I will record oral discussion in. You could easily adapt this so that these questions are either on the presentation itself or on a worksheet or as a grouped task with a class presentation. The PPT will need to be viewed in edit not presentation mode to allow pupils to drag and drop the items. Can be edited and expanded upon to save time. Spent all morning doing this so save yourself the time! Please let me know if any problems :-)

Class Career Aspirations Project

I got this idea from Lori McDonough I will take profile photos of the class and ask each child what they would like to be when they grow up. I will put each photo on the circles and personalise each on according to the career aspirations. I will then print this on A3 paper and have it up on display throughout the year! This is fully editable with some pics to use to customise.

My class love being a teaching assistant for the day! Benefits include picking up the printing, dismissing for breaks etc and the class vote if they have been a good TA at the end of the day and then they earn a star.
