■ Space for ESL students: Mini Unit of work
Mini ESL unit about chocolate. Students will engage in a number of pre-listening activities to prepare them to watch a video about the history of chocolate. They will learn 20 words related to chocolate with a word-picture matching activity. They will learn plenty of vocabulary words in the two worksheet that precede the listening tasks.
►LEARNING OUTCOMES◄
GENERAL: Students will learn plenty of new vocabulary words through engaging and challenging activities. They will work individually, in pairs or in small groups to include variety in lesson dynamics.
SPECIFIC: This mini unit is based around a listening activity (a video from Youtube) about the history of chocolate. Before students engage in listening, filling the missing gaps and answering questions, there are a few of pre-listening activities. The first one is a wordle which includes vocabulary words from the introduction of the video. Students need to form sentences by using such words. Another pre-listening activity is a matching exercise, where students need to match words with pictures. Two more worksheets with 4 exercises are included to practice finding synonyms, antonyms and definitions. All in preparation for the listening task. The mini unit concludes with a writing task.
