GCSE Music Listening test designed to build confidence and exam skills ahead of the Summer Exam 2016. These questions have been written in the AQA format although this can be used for any exam board as the questions will test general musical listening skills.
This test is based on songs by The Beatles; (instructions and time stamp sheet included so you can source the audio)
I designed this resource for a mixed ability year 11 group. You can also use this to prompt coversations with all the students but equally push the higher ability with additional socratic questioning.
There are 9 audio questions in total with the answer displayed after each questions - this was you can use this as a whole lesson and hae regualar discussion. Share with your students via VLE so they can also complete at home and use as a revision tool.

Rhythm & Metre

Harmony & Tonality
Structure
Timbre & Dynamics
10 question audio worksheet to test GCSE Music student's ability to identify pitch audibly in preparation for the listening exam.
These questions are of varying difficulty but all follow a style as you would expect to find in the summer exam. The rhythm is given but students need to notate at the correct pitch. I used this for a 60 miute revision session but could also be used for a starter or independent revision. Please feel free to share with your students via your VLE.
There is an audio track per question. The first 5 questions are based around the same overall 4 bar rhythm. The remaining 5 questions are different 4 bar compositions.
I will be making more examples like this to test intervals and rhythmic identification.
(Apologies that I couldn't remove the semibreve rest from the bar students are to write their answer but this was due to the software I used to create these scores)
This is a learning activity "Beatles Bingo" and Homework that I created for my GCSE Music (AQA 8271) students to support the Beatles set study pieces; With a Little Help, Lucy in the Sky & Within You Without You.
The instructions for Beatles bingo are included in the file. Sadly I obviously can't supply you with the audio tracks.
The homework 'Sgt Peppers Analysis' is broken into the three songs with questions aimed at the different students prior attainment/abilities (see below) There is also a generic PLC included for marking & feedback. I also usually photocopy an addition generic piece of music revision onto all my set study homeworks, again this is set to the students ability.
With a Little Help - Lower Ability
Lucy in the Sky - Middle
Within You Without You - Upper/Higher
