KS3 Roald Dahl's The Landlady Short Story Analysis and Written Tasks
Three lessons that explore foreshadowing, features of horror writing and writing techniques using the Roald Dahl short story ‘The Landlady’ as a stimulus text.
This was used with a mixed ability Year 8 class. The story itself is not included but can easily be found online.

KS3 To Kill A Mockingbird Resources
A bundle of resources that includes an analysis of Chapter 1 and mood, how Scout and Jem are presented in Ch. 1, an exploration of changes in attitude that focuses on Ch. 8, an analysis of Atticus Finch and writing from the perspective of Scout after the events of Ch. 9. There are sample of modelled writing included and a variety of discussion tasks.
Suitable for a mixed ability year 8 class.
Dulce et Decorum Est KS3 WW1 Poetry Analysis
A pair of lessons that focus on language devices and performance using the poem 'Dulce et Decorum Est' by Wilfred Owen. The first lesson explore the poem through freeze frame activities and group work while the second lesson develops analysis of language devices within the poem with a modelled example. Originally used with a mixed ability year 8 group, this would also work with a high ability KS3 year 7 group and could supplement a war poetry scheme or as a standalone pair of lessons. Prior knowledge of simile, metaphor and emotive language is expected.
KS4 Prayer Before Birth by Louis MacNeice
A lesson (potentially 1 and a half) based around exploring and analysing diction in the poem ‘Prayer Before Birth’ by Louis MacNeice. Knowledge of common poetic devices is assumed. The lesson is suited to a higher level GCSE/IGCSE class and can be used to supplement an exisiting poetry SoW or as a standalone revision lesson.

A range of resources for KS4 English Language Paper 1 covering all questions (10-12 lessons depending on pacing), a standalone creative writing lesson, resources for papers 1 and 2 for KS3 - creative writing and non-fiction as well as standalone literacy lessons focusing on developing cover letter writing skills and persuasive articles.
The KS4 material would be suitable for mixed ability year 10 classes and the KS3 material would suit a higher ability year 7 or a mixed ability year 8 class.
