Here's a set of 50 Mathematics Taboo Cards I have created; easy to change the Key words/taboo words as needed. I print these out, laminate them and then use them in class for revision or as a starter activity to engage students. Good for literacy across the curriculum.

Statistical Diagram Templates

I have put together a set of templates for the diagrams students need to draw. In my experience they moan and groan about having to draw these and so these templates provide as a solution to this, and also differentiate for those that need help drawing the diagrams. Here I have a Pie Chart, Stem & Leaf, 2-way Stem é Leaf, Mean from Grouped Frequency Table, Frequency Density Table, Box Plot, and a 4 quadrant template. I have printed the required template as a handout so each student has a set of templates to use during the lesson.

KS3 Maths Game targeted at level 4 and level 5. This is a 'Connect Thoughts&' board. The task is played like the &';Connect 4' game where the class choose any 4 tasks to complete in a row. The rows of questions are levelled and is a great way to differentiate, I have found. For more information on how I have used see my blog post... http://mrcollinsreflectivejournal.blogspot.com/2012/01/connect-thoughts.html These can be adapted for any subject/topic RECENTLY UPDATED WITH ANSWERS

'Thubbles' or Thought Bubbles

Here is a set of 4 'Thubbles' that I use every now and again to re-engage my learners. The idea is that the students fill in the thought clouds with an appropriate suggestion of what the characters are thinking! You get some rather interesting ideas! I used to use this in Cover lessons when I was waiting for work.

Fake 'Twitter' Page powerpoint

(1)
This is my fake class 'Twittter' page that I use once I have done a class 'Tweets' plenary. In the Class 'Tweets' plenary I get my classes to write in a Tweet (140 characters) on post-it notes something they have learnt during the lesson that they did not know previously. The class then stick their post-it notes on the IWB on the way out. I then type up their 'tweets' on to the powerpoint and show the class at the start of the next lesson to show the class what they learnt in their previous lesson

NOW UPDATED WITH THE INCORRECT ANSWER &'X&'; BOARD!

GCSE Revision - 'Tip of the Iceberg'

These are a series of revision lessons I have put together following a literacy exhibition lesson I observed. The idea is that you show the students the 1st slide on each & ask what is implied by the image - what could they be asked to do in a GCSE exam question if they were presented with that image? Following their ideas, there are lots of different questions using the intial image. For more information on how I have used these with my classes see http://mrcollinsmaths.blogspot.co.uk
Maths Football IWB Match Activity

Maths Football IWB Match Activity

(0)
This is an IWB resource I created to go with my 'Mr Collins&' Table Sheets&'; resources. The idea is that I split my class into the two teams 'Collins City&' and &';Raymonds Rovers' and then using an inflatable football to play a &'match&'; of football with the class as a plenary activity; students answer questions to 'shoot&' or pass to another player. For more information on how I run this activity see my blog post at http://mrcollinsmaths.blogspot.com Resource can be used without the table sheets by printing and handing out the team shirts on slide 2.

'Flappy Bird' Data Handling Lessons

This resource includes 2 videos of me playing the game 'flappy bird&' and a [updated] notebook file for possible lessons you could then teach, based on the videos. The videos could be the start of a series of lessons to collect, represent and compare data. Videos are linked to my YouTube Channel (mrcollinsmaths). Any other suggestions as to how the videos could be used are greatly appreciated. See my blog http://mrcollinsmaths.blogspot.co.uk for more info.

'Sky Sports News&' style pwoerpoint slide. Here is a powerpoint I have created to communicate to my classes their learning objectives, key words, homework, lesson aim etc all on one slide. I put this up at the start of some of my lessons as the class are coming in. The lesson aim scrolls across the bottom of the screen when the presentation is up. I use a &';slide master' for this ppt and so if you want to change the layout etc it will need to be done on the slide master!

Simultaneous Equations Starter/Plenary

(6)
I used this question as a starter to consolidate learning of simultaneous equations with a top set year 10 class. Would work well as a plenary too? The question gets the students to form the simulatenous equations 1st based on a worded question using the characters from Finding Nemo!
