I am a teacher of Computer Science with a focus on programming languages, web development, spreadsheets & databases, Adobe Photoshop & Flash and encryption. The primary focus of my shop is to showcase computing resources and assessment tracking tools to support classroom teachers. Additionally, I hope to pursue my personal interests such as History with topics including Papal History, Kings Queens and PM's, Crusaders, The Black Death, American/British History and 20th Century History.

An excellent teaching resource for ICT / Computing: Number Systems, providing a step-by-step walk though for converting denary (base 10) to binary (base 2) numbers. The application provides two different methods of conversion and allows the user to enter an example number of their choice; the system will then convert their denary value into a binary number, showing the steps taken to do so. The resource has been built using Excel 2010 and will be compatible with both Excel 2010 and 2013. The programming for the application is powered by VBA, the application is self-contained and button controlled. The full version of the application includes an assessment system to test users understanding of the conversion methods and is available for purchase in the TES resources area.

A useful resource within any department, the Performance Tracking Chart allows you to quickly and easily compare assessment results and it provides an instant visual representation of the data. This resource can be used to track progress and achievement, identifying progress made and areas for development. It can be beneficial for planning and developing lesson plans and schemes of work, highlighting differentiation requirements. This resource has been built using Excel 2010 and will be compatible with both Excel 2010 and 2013. There is an instruction pop-up programmed to appear when the application opens to support new users.

Business Studies resource - the top 20 inventions of all time are stored in the application. Type in a possible answer which is then copied to a table to show all your previous guesses - if you are correct the answer will reveal itself on the game board. This is a excellent resource for a group or whole class activity, encouraging all students to participate in guessing the best answer.

A dynamic way to display your questionnaire/assessment feedback, with a graph that automatically updates depending on which row you select. For example, in the example image the cursor is placed on the row entitled "I enjoy all of my lessons". The results for this row are then shown in the above graph. You can add as many Items to the application as you want, as long as the data has an Item value it will display on the graph.

A dynamic resource, excellent as a starter activity or a practice tool for Key Stage 1/2 Maths - Number Systems: Place Value and Ordering. The application has three features: Tens and Units - a random number between 10 and 99 is displayed on screen and a question is displayed asking "How many units?" or "How many Tens?"; Hundreds, Tens and Units - a random number between 100 and 999 is displayed on screen and a question is displayed asking "How many units?", "How many Tens?" or "How may hundreds?"; Hundreds, Tens and Units (2) - a random three digit number, printed using words is displayed on screen. JavaScript Random Name Generator This is a handy resource that loads onto your browser on a new tab. To add your names to the generator you will need to right-click and select Open With … either Notepad or Notepad++. Here you will be able to view the JavaScript code and edit. This is a useful resource for selecting a random student from your class as part of a starter or plenary exercise. Alternatively I have used it as a jumping-off task as part of a Computer Programming lesson, where students recreate the resource practicing their logical thinking skills and enhancing their programming knowledge.

Passwords … It is so important to regularly update and change your password, and schools now require you to include uppercase, lowercase and symbols into a password that can be as long as 30 characters! These are easy to forget and you need to place to store them. Time Consuming … Remembering multiple complex passwords is very difficult - especially if you are using unique alphanumeric strings. What takes the most time is creating the password - not wanting it to be too common or easy to guess but not so difficult that it is impossible to remember. The My Passwords Log Book has a Random Password Generator which will create and record the string, saving you time. All the Applications … There are so many applications that you use as a teacher - the number of times I have not only forgotten the password but also the name of the application is almost embarrassing! With My Passwords Log Book you can store the application name, include a hyperlink taking you directly to the site as well the required password.

This application is a totally customisable version of my "Family Fortune - Top 20 Inventions" application. The default settings have been kept as the top 20 inventions of all time, however in this version you are able to design and implement your own top 20 list. The design process uses custom built userforms, VBA programming and has undergone user testing to ensure ease of use. Simply select the Designer Mode, enter a Title for your game and then add your top 20 list items. When you are done click on Play and you will be able to play and present "your version" of Family Fortunes.
