You could look at it directly as a presentation and discuss the different symbolism being shown in each of the photos. I have added a second presentation to explain to teachers 31 different ways they can use a set of photos as a teaching tool in the classroom. You could print off and laminate the photos to make an interesting, eye-catching display about Advent. The students could also take the laminated photos and describe the Advent pictures using all their senses. The photos could also be used as prompts for creative writing, factual writing or descriptive writing.

You could look at it directly as a presentation and discuss the different fires being shown in each of the photos. I have created a rich teaching resource. As well as photos of bonfires, you have a set of creative writing prompts and a list of useful vocabulary for Guy Fawkes. In addition, I have written a teacher guide explaining the 31 different fun teaching activities you can do with these teaching resources. Your students will improve both their vocabulary and memory skills, while having lots of fun! You could print off and laminate the photos to make an interesting, eye-catching display about Bonfire Night. The students could also take the laminated photos and sort them into different Bonfire activities. The photos could also be used as prompts for creative writing, factual writing or descriptive writing.

A wide range of different photos of girls around the world. You can discuss what they are doing and thinking. Equally importantly, how would you help them to have the best life they can? What need to change? Do you think it will? You could look at it directly as a presentation and discuss the different activity being shown in each of the photos. You could print off and laminate the photos to make an interesting, eye-catching display about International Day of the Girl. The students could also take the laminated photos and sort them into different girl activities. The students can then discuss what they think each one was saying or thinking. The photos could also be used as prompts for creative writing, factual writing or descriptive writing.

Big Grammar Book 1: It’s jam-packed from cover to cover with a great selection of photocopiable worksheets taken from the popular website. We wanted to provide teachers with a really useful book of no-nonsense grammar worksheets that they can dip into and use in class with students at Entry Level (ESOL Core Curriculum Entry Levels 1 & 2). It is also ideal for students to work with at home since the answers are all printed at the back. The book is divided into four parts and is graded in difficulty, so that it begins with some basic stuff and builds up to more challenging grammar activities. It features a selection of Essential English worksheets which provide practice for crucial basic areas of knowledge for learners at Entry Level, like using numbers, writing the alphabet, spelling days and months correctly, and so on. Big Grammar Book 2: Like its older sibling, BGB 2 is packed with 101 printable worksheets for teaching and improving grammar skills in English. The topics are wide and varied, starting with Essential English worksheets that cover the basics, like the alphabet, days, months, and telling the time; then tenses (a lot about tenses!), then irregular verbs, question forms, word order in sentences, parts of English, uncountable nouns, and so on! If you have used the first BGB, you will know what to expect from this one. Around 25% of the worksheets in this book are closely modelled on activities in BGB 1, for example Full Stops 1 & 2 (pp.68-69). The material starts off at beginner level, with the alphabet worksheets, then gets progressively more difficult, while staying in Elementary (A1 / A2) level. Only towards the end do things get “tougher”, with articles, conditionals, and phrasal verbs making their inevitable appearance! Don’t worry – all the answers and notes for use are included at the back of this book.

Can you spot the mistake in the text below? What’s the chances of a manned mission to Mars? It could be a problem with apostrophes or a missing article, or maybe it just doesn’t make sense. It could be there’s a punctuation mark missing or a spelling mistake, or perhaps the words used don’t agree – the verb is singular but the noun is plural … What do you think? Not sure? You need this book! Inside you will find 60 examples of incorrect English, including the one above, adapted from genuine mistakes published in newspaper and magazine articles, advertisements, websites, and leaflets. • This pack contains 17 templates for creating your own worksheets, for use in lessons, for testing, or for homework. You can use them with any level – your choice of vocabulary and tenses will determine the level. • This pack also includes a sample set of finished worksheets (with answers) on the topic of “Dentist”. The level is pre-intermediate to intermediate. • You don’t need to create all the worksheets for a given topic; simply choose the ones you need. The worksheets are in four categories: vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and speaking & listening. Of course, you can also adapt the worksheets and include your own activities and categories. • Remember, as the teacher, you should know the answers to the worksheets! By thinking about the answers and researching what you do not know, your teaching skills will improve. • The worksheets practise concepts and skills that are fundamental to the You Are The Course Book method of teaching, for example: discussion words, spelling statements, tense conversion, idioms, word stress, sentence stress, collocations, connected speech, discussion, and so on. • In keeping with the YATCB method, why not encourage your students to make their own activities based on these worksheets – then swap them with one another, or give them to other classes. • You can write on the blank worksheets then photocopy them for your students, or create your own templates modelled on these worksheets

Talk a Lot - Spoken English Course A Great Way to Learn How to Really Speak English! Intermediate Book 1 • Four full-length spoken English courses • Over 200 hours of quality learning materials! • Brand new and unique learning method • Learn to use 8 essential intermediate level verb forms • Learn real English – idioms, phrasal verbs, and slang! • Practise using sounds, stress, and connected speech • 100% photocopiable As well as the teaching material for each course – around 45 hours in total – this book contains more than 100 pages of additional material which complements the course activities, for use in the classroom or for self-study at home. This book is for students who are studying from intermediate level (B2/FCE) to advanced level (C1/CAE), although there will also be plenty of good material for students at pre-intermediate level. The main proposal of this book is that intermediate level can come as something of a shock for students who realise that, despite dutifully learning all the basic grammatical forms and vocabulary at elementary level, the English language remains just as unknowable as ever, thanks to the introduction – at intermediate level – of non-literal English – i.e. idioms, phrasal verbs, and slang. Despite knowing plenty of words with their literal meanings, the goal of fluent communication retreats further into the distance, as the student begins to find coded language wherever they look – English that doesn’t make sense as they know it. For example, they may have learned the vocabulary words “cost”, “arm”, and “leg”, but do they know what it means “to cost an arm and a leg”? (To be very expensive!) Talk a Lot Intermediate provides plenty of practice with these bewildering forms.

Phonics Screen Revision - 4 documents in one simple PowerPoint!

Getting ready for the summer Phonics test? Here are two Phonics revision tests from previous years. I have converted 4 documents into a simple to use PowerPoint. It starts off with practice words. These include both real and made up words. These help students to revise how to say the words and to prepare them for the test. This is followed by the practice test. There are 2 levels, a simple level and a trickier level, In each case there are real and made-up words. This is followed by recommendations on how to say each word. This is followed by the marking sheet. These PowerPoints are fun, colourful and an easy way to practice the words either with a whole class or one by one with the students. It is also an excellent way for parents to practice with their children at home. Make phonics testing fun... try this set of PowerPoints today!

I have edited Levels 1 to levels 4 so there are now reading questions relating to every slide. I have mixed up all the original Thinking Hat colours and done away with black and white as I had teachers who felt these were not appropriate in a primary classroom and relaunched it all as Thinking Scarves - I hope you like the changes and leave me a nice comment below! These books are great to share.

Want to inspire your students? These pictures form the basic parts of a story to get them thinking. The pictures can be simply mixed up to change the story. The different pictures from the different stories could all be mixed up to create a really interesting mash-up of different stories. A real challenge is to see if a class can create a whole story from all the different images in the presentation!

The students can take these images and mix them up to create their own stories. There are two different ways of using this resource. You would separate the stories out, as I have done, or simple go wild, print them all out, laminate them and shuffle them and then use them as a starting point for student's own stories. The real challenge is to see if a class can use them all and still make a coherent story!
