A presentation aimed at improving standards in Reading. Explores ways to develop children's love of learning, promote reading throughout the school, changing the way in which we teach reading, end of Key Stage expectations as of New Curriculum (2017). Could be adapted to suit an individual school (before upload this contained data about our school's end of year outcomes, percentage of pupils achieving age related or higher, pupil voice etc.)

A 4 week unit of work (20 lessons) aimed at Year 5 and 6 focusing on the topic of ‘Myths & Legends’. Includes 3 way differentiation as well as resources and suggested reading/websites that can link with this topic. Used effectively with a year 5 class, however can be adapted to suit Year 6 pupils.

A set of 6 lessons on Powerpoint focusing on 5 inspirational figures from different faiths. I am currently using this as an RE topic in line with our syllabus in Bedfordshire but can also be used as a PSHE set of lessons. All resources included.

An upper KS2 set of plans based around the creation and study of newspapers focusing on the topic of Space and life aboard the International Space Station. All lessons come with links to useful pages, warm up grammar based activities and 3 way differentiation. All resources for these set of plans are also included.

A set of 4 lessons on PowerPoint around free verse poetry based on the topic of Space. Writing stimulus used is “The sea of tranquility” by Mark Haddon and Christian Birmingham (images of the story included). 3 way differentiation included as well as Grammar warm up activities.

A lesson on the location of gold around the world, children will need to use atlases. Includes video on the mining of gold and the 10 biggest countries for gold production. Works well with twinkl’s maps of the world (included on one slide) but can be used with own maps. Also links well with the Cornerstones curriculum and Year 5 topic of “Alchemy Island”.

Week 1 of a 2 week unit on Fantasy Narrative writing for Upper KS2. Designed with different activities each lesson to build writing with modelled examples to structure writing. Week 2 coming soon!

An additional four lessons aimed at Upper Key Stage 2 English. Children learn to encounter a monster on their journey before returning back to their original setting. Links to Week 1 resource available also in my online shop.

The first four lessons in a 2 week unit exploring non-chronological reports that teaches children about the effects of plastic pollution on the seas. Draws upon WWF resources - 50% of profits made will be given to support the work of the WWF. Second week coming soon!

The first week in a two week unit focusing on the film “The Alchemist’s Letter”. Each lesson provides guided writing opportunities to describe a scene, explore character’s emotions and explain how the machine works using drama and images. This then leads on to a second week (coming soon) where children explore two of the character’s memories, add their own happy memory to the machine and then explore morals before editting and refining. Aimed at Year 5 but can easily be used with a Year 6 class also.

The second week in a 2 week unit of non-chronological planning. Focuses on planning, writing first drafts and editting. Can be extended to then create a ‘Big Write’ piece based on their editted work.

The second week in a two week unit focusing on the film “The Alchemist’s Letter”. Each lesson provides guided writing opportunities to describe a scene and explore character’s emotions. This links to the first week already available on TES in my shop where children explore two of the character’s feelings and how the machine works. Aimed at Year 5 but can easily be used with a Year 6 class also.

A 7 lesson unit on mystery story writing linked to Ancient Egypt. Starts with setting descriptions, story planning, build up and action sequence with opportunities to edit and redraft throughout. Children can then free write their own endings to show a development in their writing from heavily scaffolded, removing some support in the middle of their stories to get a totally independant ending.

A set of 3 lessons using the Waitrose Robin Advert to create descriptive narrative. Uses ‘The Write Stuff’ approach by Jane Consadine for prompting and supporting with quality writing. Part of a 2 week set of lessons.

A classroom poster that demonstrates different ways of showing resilience in the classroom.

An assembly focused on Year 6 pupils and how they can prepare themselves for the next step in school. All notes are recorded at the bottom of the slides. Opportunities for pupils to discuss feelings, the qualities they will need to take with them when they make this fresh start and a link to the story 'Oh the Places You’ll Go!" by Dr Seuss also are included.
