I am a music specialist and the music I write is original, tested on children and for the less confident teacher. My aim is to provide you with everything you need to fulfil Topic requirements and those of the National Curriculum (without having to prepare anything.) I provide Power Points/videos and give you mp3s and lyrics. Notation is sometimes given. The instrumental parts are dead easy!

Children love this song. It's useful if you have a topic on Animals of the UK. It&'s by the Southlanders. Marvelous for rhyming words. Ive added illustrations and lyrics to aid learning the song. Plenty of percussion opportunities after each list of animals -- da da da dum !

Christmas music and pictures on a power point are designed to create a peaceful mood to enable pupils /audience to be receptive to the following Assembly or concert.. The Power point is self -running..I haven't looped the show. Sound activates when in slide mode. The Christmas images and music run for 4 minutes 37 seconds.

James passion is dancing. Firstly he wrote poem as to when it all started. Then, he composed a piece of music so that he could choreograph his friends dancing to it. The tempo was too fast so he had to learn to alter it.

Ben and Shane are year 2 children who wrote a song about the changing seasons. They then used dance e jay to provide a rhythm for their performance. Useful as a stimulus for poetry about the seasons..Method -Brainstorm ideas, Chose most relevant words and then find words which rhyme with them. Develop a backing track using Dance E jay or a similar programme.

Think of the games you like and put them in the circle. If there are some games you don't like, they can go outside the circle. You can draw them or write their names.

A video and suggested follow up ideas , including composing, following the work and life of Sir John Tavener. He died in 2013 and his music is well worth a listen to . In order to comply to the size of download that the TES will accept I have put together video with a lower resolution so the quality is not brilliant but acceptable.

A simple technique for making up a song using the names of the fruit in the book 'Handa's surprise' It looks attractive too. You could scan them into a powerpoint so all the children can sing or play each others work. This will work with fruit or animals in the topic whether or not you are doing 'Handa&'s surprise'

Machines. Composing for non specialist

A powerpoint with inbuilt videos and guidance to create a composition about machines A silent video is used at the end and children play along side it once they have decided which instruments are appropriate. Children are encouraged to look at the movement of the machines and from that observation, gain clues as to the type of sound, pitch or rhythm could be used. I am using this as part of a topic about the Industrial Revolution A stand alone video ' Silent machines ...... ' is available for download if you want to add your class composition to it.

.Suitable for non specialist. Easy to follow. One way is to collectively designate the instruments to each of the the 4 Wind in the willows characters. Then, choose a leader for , say, the woodblock, ask them to play something to represent their chosen character, and then let the others copy it.. Repeat 3 times . Add other characters.
