This is a song based on a Ukrainian folk tune but with original words and a second and third part. The melodies can be sung separately or in combination and all three together as a quodlibet. The song is taught on my YouTube video, where there is a full performance and backing track. There are also tuned percussion, B flat and TAB parts.

Spring Listening - match and colour activity
Listen to four pieces based on the theme of Spring. First colour each of the flowers in a different colour. Then read the statements and find those that describe the music. Colour the butterflies to match the flowers.

St Patrick's Day Active Listening
Encourage your students to listen actively and develop their vocabulary with this listening exercise.
As you listen to each extract the children (in pairs) identify three statements that describe the music and colour them to match the horseshoe.

To be used alongside the BBC Ten Pieces film and resources. Watch the Art Ninja video to give the children the idea of responding to music through art. Using the template (with markers to signpost the way!) draw and annotate how you wish- instruments, sounds, moods, techniques, storylines etc.
