I have made this resource to help begin meet the needs of our 21st Century learners. This activity focuses on coding. However it can equally be seen as a sequencing activity, a problem solving activity or a positional maths activity. This is an introductory activity to using coding. It doesn’t require the use of a device or access to the internet. This resource allows for open-ended play and exploration. Students can place their characters anywhere on the maze board and ‘code’ instructions to move their character to different locations on the maze (without travelling through the maze walls. The resource can also be used as a form of game play or to challenge each other to move to or away from certain locations. Suggestions for this are provided. This resource comes with; A maze board, in a choice of white or grey background 4 Player Coding Cards A set of direction blocks, object cards and 4 player character cards You may also like to check out; Coding for Juniors Pack – Using Scratch Jr

This Halloween themed resource gives an opportunity to expose junior students to the world of coding using the user friendly coding app Scratch Jr. Coding is an essential skill in the digital curriculum for 21st Century learners. Coding is the ability to create instructions that allow a set of actions to be carried out. The resource doesn’t require a device or access to the internet. Students can cut and past the missing pieces of code into a command to achieve the desired outcome on the worksheet. The extra challenge with this activity is that there is an extra superfluous block. The students need to decide which block is not needed to complete the code. The resource has 2 activity sheets (2 levels of difficulty with the same task), answer sheet and teacher notes.
