A practice worksheet on -ir stem change verbs present and preterit tenses
Infinitives included: pedir, servir, mentir, divertirse, vestirse, preferir, competir, seguir, sentirse, dormir, morir
Part 1: Using the 11 infinitives, students will create original subjects (persons) and conjugate the infinitive in the present and preterit tenses

For each infinitive, students will conjugate it for all 6 persons. Then, they will write an original 8 word sentence. A clue word (ayer, anoche etc) is given at the beginning of every sentence.
Verbs are grouped by category: regular, spelling change, irregular, and -ir stem change, so the assignment can be broken up based on what students are learning.
Imagine that you are an advice expert who has been called on a radio show. Many people will be calling you regarding their new year’s resolutions and they want your advice as to how to fulfill them. For each of the 12 resolutions, offer advice using a different introductory verb (present tense) and a different present subjunctive verb. A list of introductory verbs is provided below, or you can use others that you know.

Imagine that you are Marcos Sánchez, an environmentalist, holding a meeting where people of the town are voicing concerns on various environmental issues. They want to know the cause of the issue and a solution.
Write the cause of the situation in the present tense. For the solution, answer with a different introductory verb (present tense) and a different present subjunctive verb. For the subject you can use la gente, las personas, las familias, el gobierno, el alcalde, los empleados, los jefes, los dueños etc.
