The PPT presentation is the main resource. The idea is for students to practice their timeline skills and how to extract relevant information from a textbook or PDF. This lesson works best if you have a textbook that the students can use to gather important dates. If needed, you can you the PDFs with dates and important figures. This is lesson 1 and the War of the Roses Timeline Lesson is lesson 2. Lesson 2 is free.

This will help you be more analytical in class and perceptive when playing games or working with others. History in Pop Culture is a task for all students of History. Collect a card and complete it whenever you spot a historical reference in a TV show, movie, song, video game, book, website, news program etc. The commercial properties are used here in the context of the lessons under educational free use. The fair use principle has been upheld in several legal precedents. There are no non-educational uses of these clips and there are no full episodes or films used for that purpose.

This lesson serves as an introduction to the Jacobites and how symbolism is used by them to export their message of rebellion. The main task is to understand and create a symbol for Jacobite. usage or you could insert Jacobite images and have student analyse the imagery for the symbolism they have just uncovered. There are info and activity sheets for them to complete. I gained a round of applause from a class after getting the bulk of this done in an interview lesson that lasted 30 minutes. The students continued to work on it after I left! There is enough here for TWO lessons if you have not covered symbolism or any aspect of the Jacobites before.

Each page contains a cube to be cut out and glued together so that a student may roll the cube and give information relevant to the side it lands up on. These cubes will help with revision and can be used in a simple game with a cube for each person or table. They can roll their own or respond to another person’s cube. They are based on the Edexcel Unit framework but the key terms, events and people noted on the cubes can be used for another exam board. A simple worksheet that can be used in class or for a homework assignment. The idea is for the student to generate their own variants of the poster that would fit into a different historical event or time frame. Perhaps "Keep Calm and Ignore the Mongols!"
