GCSE AQA 9-1: Weather Hazards-Extreme UK Event-Flooding- The Somerset Levels .

(0)
A fully resourced lesson that covers the cause, effects and responses to a specific UK extreme weather hazard. The Somerset Levels makes a great example due to the prolonged nature of the event and multiple contributing factors. The emphasis is on getting students to engage with the activities and demonstrate understanding. A Knowledge Organiser is included, along with video links meaning no other resources are needed. Students can produce an icon based A4 summary or a as an A4 table - both of these are digital and therefore can be completed remotely.

Sustainable Development - Wind Power in Liverpool Bay

(0)
This resource uses the Liverpool Bay Wind Farm a case study of sustainable energy use and how it will help the government to move towards a sustainable energy policy. The resource covers 2 sheets and has a mixture of stimulus material, sorting exercises and GCSE exam questions. Based on the AQA A Globalisation Unit but as it is word based it can easily be edited to fit other exam board requirements, including the new specifications.

GCSE AQA 9-1 The Demographic Transition Model ( Carousel Activity).

(0)
A fully resourced lesson that explores the DTM in an active way. Written specifically for the AQA GCSE 9-1 course and fully updated. The power-point covers the key definitions and includes video links. The main activity is a market place/carousel task in which the students move around the room collecting the information for each stage. The information sheets are in colour for high impact and would benefit from laminating to ensure they can be reused year after year. The syllabus refers to Nigeria but the pyramid is only just entering stage 3 so I have also included Brazil, as it shows the difference from stage 2 far more clearly. The information makes references to policies in Nigeria as it is used as a case study elsewhere in the course.

The exam questions follow the new assessment style but I have simplified the multi- choice questions to reduce photocopying costs. A 9 mark 'assess' extended response question is included to allow access to the highest grades. Also included is a full mark scheme.

GCSE AQA 9-1: Climate Change - The Evidence for Climate Change.

(0)
This lesson concentrates on the wide range of evidence available for climate change. It covers the historical evidence, glacial retreat, ice cores, direct temperature readings through to recent changes in sea ice coverage. It is designed to be used with the Oxford Textbook with a graphic organiser linked to the double-page spread but plenty of video links are included for variety and the book is not necessary. but other sources can be used instead. A range of options is included to cover the material, depending on the sources available. A graphic organiser has been kept relatively generic to allow for a variety of texts/sources to be used but it is ideal if using the Oxford Textbook. Differentiated questions have also been included.
