This West Side Story Movie Guide (PG13 - 2021) in Spanish challenges students to analyze characters, motives, decisions and song lyrics. Discuss symbolism throughout the film and evaluate arguments. Share opinions and use details from the movie to support them. Explore which character, or group, students personally connect with and write what they would’ve done differently if they were in a similar position. Finally, think about whether or not the final events in the film will make a lasting change on the Jets and the Sharks.

**CCSS Note: I’ve taken the liberty of aligning certain reading standards with the act of consuming content via the movie instead. Although students are not reading they are asked to perform the same cognitive functions on the content that they consumed from the movie.
**Distance Learning Tips:
Distribute the Google Slides version to each student
Use the screen sharing tool on your group call software to play the movie
Pause the movie at each question to give students time to write/discuss
