Are you looking for some engaging ideas to finish off the school year during English classes? This set of 4 worksheets will encourage your students to reflect and be creative, right up until the last day of school. Included in the pack is: Class newspaper template (with blank heading spaces in each box that allows students to personalise their learning and event headlines from the year). Time capsule template that encourages students to reflect on the year and look to the future (the teacher can keep these in a box and bring them out at the end of the next year or make it really exciting and find somewhere to bury the box!). Flip the script template (students choose their favorite book from the year, summarise the ending then re-write the ending the way they want it to end!). What’s included in the 40-page workbook? • General information page – when to use the passive voice • Instruction page – how to form the passive voice • Passive voice sentence mat + negative version • Three-page worksheets for EACH of the following passive sentence types: Present simple passive Past simple passive Future simple passive Present continuous passive Past continuous passive Be going to passive Present perfect passive Past perfect passive Future perfect passive • 9 pages of answers (one for each section of the workbook) Teaching note: each worksheet for the individual passive voice tense has four scaffolded parts. Part 1: writing basic passive sentence from an active sentence (doesn’t need the use of ‘by’) Part 2: filling in the gaps using the tense + past participle (most of them are irregular past participles) Part 3: writing more developed passive sentences from active sentences (use of irregular past participles + using ‘by’ on more occasions) Part 4: changing passive sentences back to active sentences Teaching note: this resource should be used with students who have been working with forming the past participle or are using verb tense mats to support learning. The workbook begins with more basic tenses and builds up to the more difficult ones. You could use this booklet at intervals across the year, or even for revision before key grammar-based exams.

It’s sometimes hard to get students engaged in writing. It can be daunting and stressful at times for students who find literacy difficult. This personal narrative writing unit, which is suitable for upper primary/middle school aged students, is an excellent way to build a love of writing within your classroom. It is planned to be scaffolded, meaning all levels of students can plan to succeed! What’s better, it can be adapted for any curriculum! What’s included? For all parts, you will get a template link to Canva (free account required!), so you can edit anything to your curriculum needs. I have included all the accompanying worksheets as PDF files for download as well as the template link, but the powerpoint you can download directly (or use through Canva) from Canva. Six Lessons + Writing Workshop Guide: 36 slides in total (You may want to break these up even more depending on the pace your class usually works at!) What makes a story? • Brainstorm what students know already • Personal narrative explanation • Elements of a personal narrative (story mountain) • Analyzing personal narrative structure.
