Hi, thank you for looking. This is a sensory story more suitable for SLD, MLD , primary students. The creation story from Benin has been simplified and sensory inputs recommended. Sensory stories are short and best repeated a number of times. For further information about Sensory Stories search for Joana Grace or ‘The Sensory Projects’ (not affiliated) Please review to let me know how to improve my resources.

Matching pennies to amounts to 10p

This is a visual resource to support students in matching pennies to amounts up to 10p. I have used mine in shop role play for Personal Progress accreditation ‘Understanding what money is used for’ and also for Progression Step 3. Could also be used as a TEACCH activity when laminated and velcro added (what would TEACCH be without velcro?!) I hope you find it useful.

Sensory circuit random choice ppt

This is an editable sensory circuit random choice generating powerpoint! I have added the activities I use with my class for alerting, organising and calming, but you can add your own. A sensory circuit at the start of the day helps the class to get moving (as they may have been on transport for a while), learn where their bodies are and calm down ready to learn. Please review so that I can improve my resources. Thank you for looking! Based on a template made by Tekhnologic.

Examples of irregular plurals with two choices for the correct plural, suitable for peg boards or white board marker once laminated. Created in Communicate in Print. I am using these in TEACCH with my Year 13 class. I hope that you find them useful, reviews would be useful!
Descriptive language matching and Makaton

Descriptive language matching and Makaton

To support students learning descriptive vocabulary; stripy, spotty, shiny, furry, smooth, rough, spiky, soft and hard. Match the communication in print word and image (laminate and cut - I recommend printing and laminating more than one copy- one to be cut so that it only matches the correct answer and one cut straight across for when they get better at it!) I also match with objects with these qualities for a wider understanding. With Makaton prompts to aid understanding and language.

Communicate in Print choice board for 3-stage sensory circuit. Stage 1 - alerting - wakes the body up Stage 2 - organising - knowing where your body is in space Stage 3 - calming- calm down and get ready to learn. Laminate and cut the sheets with activities, velcro or tack on the back to put choices onto choice board. Students should do at least one activity from each stage (in order), aim to build up to 5 minutes in each stage. This has worked really well for my Year 13 class this year. I hope you find it useful!

Little Mermaid Multi sensory story

Little Mermaid Multi sensory story

This is a multi sensory, plain English version of The Little Mermaid. The story is based on the Ladybird Favourite tales version. It has been rewritten in simple language. The equipment is detailed so you can make a shopping list! The multi sensory elements are described throughout the story, but feel free to adapt to suit your needs, or if you have a better idea! I will be using the resource with secondary age, SEN (SLD / MLD/ complex needs) students for Literacy lessons. The ‘chapters’ are quite short, so each chapter can be used as a sensory story. I plan to do one chapter a week with my class. The use of multi sensory input helps students to retain and understand the information within the story. For more information about why sensory stories are beneficial Google Joanna Grace. I hope you enjoy using this story with your students! please review, so I can improve, th
Alice in Wonderland multi sensory story

Alice in Wonderland multi sensory story

This is a sensory story for Alice in Wonderland. It explains everything you will need to present the story in a more accessible way. It is a longer story than usual for sensory stories and is aimed at MLD SLD students (P level 6 - 1C). The story is re written in simple language with the sensory elements in the comments, so you will need the review tab open. I did a chapter a week with my class, we read through the chapter twice each week. I used the story for literacy, completing relevant tasks after each chapter. The resources you will need are also attached, so you can take a shopping list out with you. I posted the items I needed on the staff notice board and went to charity shops, but Amazon is always available!
