This lesson is the first lesson in the A Level Comparative Politics unit - it outlines the unit requirements, and introduces students to the origins of the US constitution (it can also be used for A Level History). It considers the historical setting of the constitution with a focus on key terms, and contains activities and discussions to extend student thinking. It also includes an individual research task on the founding fathers. This lesson would take an hour to teach, however the task may need to be completed as home study. It is fully resourced and no text book is required, however is based on the Pearson Edexcel A Level text book.

This assembly is suitable for key stages 1 and 2, possibly 3 if you use the longer clip. It lasts between 20 and 30 minutes (depending on which clip you use). It is a fun interactive assembly which tells the story of the Gunpowder Plot and then involves a fun quiz to test recall and to get the children involved in the story. It links the plot to bonfire night and ends with some tips on firework safety.

This is the eleventh lesson in a series created for the A Level unit Democracy and Dictatorship in Germany. It considers the debate relating to the recovery of the economy under Stresemann, and involves activities requiring the students to evaluate evidence and reach conclusions in relation to different historical interpretations. It also introduces and requires students to write a 20 mark essay for homework. Ideally this lesson should be taught in conjunction with the Access to History, Democracies and Dictatorships in Germany, but other text books could be used to support it.

This lesson has been created to prepare students for their GCSE mocks and public examinations. It is the third lesson in a set of skills lessons which helps them revise and master source utility questions. The lesson starts by explaining how to get full marks on a source utility question, and then solidifies student learning through AFL modeling and repetition. This lesson contains material based on the Weimar and Nazi Germany depth study (USA Conflict at home and abroad also available). It takes about an hour to teach and enables students to practice their source skills.

This is an A level double lesson (2 hours) which explores the key historical debate regarding Queen Elizabeth I and her relationship with Parliament as required by the Tudors A Level courses. It contains starter activities which link Elizabeth to previous Tudor Monarchs; historiographies; and resources containing summarised but very detailed key information needed for answering an interpretation question on this topic. The lesson enables the teacher to work through the planning of an A level historiography answer, and then allows the students to write their own independent answer. All resources needed are included.

This is the SIXTH lesson on the constitution in the A Level scheme of work US government and politics, and the first lesson which considers the key features of the US constitution. The power point aims at recapping on previous knowledge and introducing an understanding of the separation of powers, and checks and balances aspect of the US Constitution. The lesson contains discussion and two detailed tasks. It is planned as a one hour lesson, but will probably take 2 hours to complete all of the activities and readings. You will need the Pearson EDEXCEL A level text book to support this lesson (other readings included)

This lesson is the first in a short unit of work prepared for key stages 2 and 3 to celebrate Black History Month. The lesson introduces students to the slave trade, and contains numerous tasks including the chronology of the triangular trade and making inferences from sources. The purpose of the lesson is to contextualise why we celebrate Black History every October. This lesson is fully resourced and suitable for either key stage 3 or key stage 2 students.
