This lesson is the first lesson in the A Level Comparative Politics unit - it outlines the unit requirements, and introduces students to the origins of the US constitution (it can also be used for A Level History). It considers the historical setting of the constitution with a focus on key terms, and contains activities and discussions to extend student thinking. It also includes an individual research task on the founding fathers. This lesson would take an hour to teach, however the task may need to be completed as home study. It is fully resourced and no text book is required, however is based on the Pearson Edexcel A Level text book.

The lesson introduces students to the slave trade, and contains numerous tasks including the chronology of the triangular trade and making inferences from sources.
