A lesson to help students identity different forms of poetry and the features. I used this for my year 10 English Literature class and it really helped them understand sonnets, free verse, dramatic monologue, blank verse and limericks.

This resource takes breaks down the AQA IGCSE English Literature Mark Scheme for students and include some suggested tasks using exemplars that can be downloaded from the AQA website.

This resource was planned for the AQA English First Language IGCSE Reading Paper, but can be adapted easily for other exam boards. It studies the extract ‘Alone’ from the AQA resource, 'The Home of the Blizzard’. Includes: guided reading tasks which are modeled on the AQA Exam and a breakdown of the mark scheme for each question. There is also an optional writing task at the end.

Slides consist of 2-3 Lessons analysing ‘In a London Drawing Room’ by George Eliot. This It includes context, theme, form, structure and language. This poem is included in the AQA IGCSE People and Places anthology and therefore there is some comparative focus with other poems, but this can be easily edited accordingly.

This is an English GCSE/IGCSE First Language Reading Lesson, which studies the discursive article ‘Explorers or boys messing about? Either way the taxpayer gets the rescue bill’. Global Issues Unit Slides and worksheet to explore a non fiction article about the Global Issue of how gold mining effects endangered species in the Congo. Includes: vocabulary, synonyms, comprehension questions, speaking and listening and bonus writing task with AQA mark scheme.
