A Power Point covering a whole lesson whose aim is to imagine and describe an advneture holiday. Grammar foci are "je voudrais + infinitive" and conditional in general for more able pupils. Activities differentiated for all abilities. It worked really well with my year 9!
Whole lesson Power Point on this unit- pupils start with the analysis of a postcard to identify regular verbs and the most frequent irregular verbs in the past tense. Then some grammar practice on it. Speaking activity to encourage more spontaneous conversation using the past tense (taken from TES, but changed it in order to differentiate). Plenary game using the past tense.
A Power Point covering a whole lesson whose aim is to talk about holidays (where did you go? who with? how long? by which means of transport?). Grammar foci are the pronoun "y" , how to form questions with question words and tenses. Lots of funny and kinaestetic activities, all differentiated for a very mixed-ability group. Hope you enjoy!
<p>This resource includes a Power Point and a sentence builder whose aim is to describe what you have and what you don’t have in your school bag. Pupils will be taught to use the j’ai/ je n’ai pas de/ il y a/ il n’y a pas de + indefinite articles through the sentence builder. Lots of recycling activities using Gianfranco Conti’s approach (<a href="https://gianfrancoconti.wordpress.com/2018/03/16/my-favourite-read-aloud-task-and-how-i-use-them/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://gianfrancoconti.wordpress.com/2018/03/16/my-favourite-read-aloud-task-and-how-i-use-them/</a>), i.e. narrow reading, dictation, find someone who. This can be used to replace or complement the textbook material (expo/ studio/ dynamo).</p>
Module 4 unit 3<br />
Power point teaching food, followed by a real food tasting where pupils need to go around the room, taste the French food and express an opinion on it. Very funny activity and it worked really well with my students. At the end they do a writing task where they use the opinions (c'est trop sucré, c'est trop salé, ça me fait vomir etc...) to compare food, hence it recaps also food. To go well with the chapter in the book.
Lesson designed for an observation and went really well. Pupils learn vocab concerning different kinds of films and they will discuss different kinds of films. All activities are differentiated and pupils will be challenged to talk about the film in detail. Included is also some revision of the verb etre and avoir.
Funny introductory quiz to do some cultural stuff on Paris (football teams, can can dance, the Eiffel tower etc.<br />

There is a link to a video on Paris to find out about the most famous sights(with accompanying worksheet), revision of the past tense of regular verbs and a differentiated translation task in the new GCSE style.<br />

<p>This resource includes a Power Point which is a set of lessons on the topic of festivals and events. This includes a very comprehensive sentence builder modelling new language chunks aimed at describing present, past and future festivals and events. This takes KAPITEL 8 EINE WUNDERBARE WELT- Festivals und Events + Die Olympischen Winterspiele as a starting point. I created a find someone who activity, a narrow translation, card thieves (see Dr Conti’s approach on <a href="https://gianfrancoconti.wordpress.com/2018/03/16/my-favourite-read-aloud-task-and-how-i-use-them/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://gianfrancoconti.wordpress.com/2018/03/16/my-favourite-read-aloud-task-and-how-i-use-them/</a>) mixed with some activities from the STIMMT AQA textbook.</p>
<p>I created this set of lessons experimenting with Dr Conti’s approach. They are all activities recycling language structures starting with “man sollte/ man koennte/ man wuerde”. Aim of this resource is to practice how to suggest solutions for issues regarding the place where you live (kapitel 6 of STIMMT AQA), social problems, poverty, environmental issues(unit 2: Gesellschaftliche Probleme/ unit 3 Obdachlos und arm in Berlin/ unit 4 Umwelt macht Schule/ unit 5 Wir werden gruener-from kapitel 8). These need to be complemented with textbook resources in the way that you prefer. Your students will be familiar with at least half od the vocab needed for unit 8 about social issues and environment, since mine found this chpater very hard to remember vocab-wise. I hope it helps.</p>
A whole lesson power point aimed a talking about what primary school used to be like. First slide (starter about Schultuete) taken from somebody on the MFL forum. A lot of practice on listening skills and on the imperfect tense with translation.
This is a 2 hours lesson on family members and relationships from the new Stimmt GCSE 9-1. It starts with a very brief revision of family members, it includes relative pronouns in the nominative case and then practice with possessive adjectives in the nominative and accusative case (see grammar worksheets). Pupils will do a running dictation with relationship phrases (ich komme gut mit...aus/ ich kann sie nicht leiden...) and then solve a mystery. Final activity a timed speaking presentation on your family and friends + relationships. Pupils really understood the grammar and the vocab by the end of it.
<p>This Power Point and sentence builder will provide you with a set of lessons focussed on expressing opionions about types of music, singers and bands. The Power Point has Kapitel 2 Musik as a basis (unit 1 Wild auf Musik + unit 3 Bandwettbewerb), but it extends much further pupils’ skills in terms of how to express opinions about different topics. In the first lessons focus on the upper part of the sentence builder (express preferences about types of music using gern/ lieber/ am liebsten + pronouns + verb scarers/ subordinating conjunctions), then move on to the second part of the sentence builder to model even more sophisticated ways to express an opinion in German (gefallane, ich denke/ glaube, dass…/ meiner Meinung nach):. Then practise and recycle the chunks through all the activities suggested (based on Dr Conti’s approachhttps://gianfrancoconti.wordpress.com/2018/03/16/my-favourite-read-aloud-task-and-how-i-use-them/) , complemented by reading/ listening activities in the book.</p>
2 lessons aimed at talking about exchanges and class trips. Work on listening using resources taken from stimmt textbook. Future tense power point adapted from a power point I found on TES. A lot of practice on the future tense and future tense time phrases as well as TELEPATHY game. A structured speaking activity very useful to talk about class trips/ exchanges in the future as well in the past tense.
<p>This sentence builder is aimed at teaching how to express and justify opinions to talk about role models. Flexible to create several activities based on Dr Conti’s approach (<a href="https://gianfrancoconti.wordpress.com/2018/03/16/my-favourite-read-aloud-task-and-how-i-use-them/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://gianfrancoconti.wordpress.com/2018/03/16/my-favourite-read-aloud-task-and-how-i-use-them/</a>) and recycle a variety of opinion sentence starters, personality traits and a variety of subordinating conjunctions/ verb scarers.</p>
This is a whole lesson power point where pupils talk about problems on their holidays. First they explore vocab and they practice it through a series of games and speaking activities. Then they will read an authentic trip advisor review created by me and will write a letter of complaint/ a trip advisor review. All differentiated. Pupils had so much fun talking about their disasters + they loved complaining!
Module 4 chez moi, chez toi<br />
First of two lessons aimed at describing where you live. Pupils learn key vocabulary, practise irregular adjectives before a noun and will be able to give a (differentiated by outcome) presentation at the end.
A Power Point covering a whole lesson whose aim is to talk about a tourist attraction you have visited in the past. Grammar focus is the past tense with "etre". This lesson mainly goes with STUDIO 3 VERT, but it's a great revision for groups usually following STUDIO 3 ROUGE. At the end a very entertaining "millionnaire" game to test pupils on the past tense with both "etre" and "avoir". Hope you enjoy!
<p>RUND UM DIE ARBEIT (KAPITEL 7)Arbeiterinnen und Arbeiter- Kapitel 7 - AQA STIMMT GCSE 9-1<br />
This Power Point and the sentence builder related to it include a set of lessons teaching students to talk about their job, to use masculine and feminine nouns, their salary and why they like/ dislike doing their job. It contains also few activities from the old GCSE ECHO HIGHER textbook to complemnt with the STIMMT material. A lot of activities I created in order to recycle chunks in eading/ listening/ speaking based on the work of Dr Conti (read here: Arbeiterinnen und Arbeiter- Kapitel 7 - AQA STIMMT GCSE 9-1). A great introduction and more to the topic!</p>
<p>A Power Point worth a couple of lessons to make pupils use the past tense to describe their last weekend in German. Power Point contains a running dictation, an introduction to past tense and a model to write a paragraph about their last weekend. Worked well with my KS3 and KS4 classes!</p>
This is a whole lesson power point to go with STIMMT 2 UNIT 1. Lessons objective is to be able to compare a town now and then. Pupils start exploring a differentiated text, then they are induced the idea of "es gibt vs es gab/ es hat vs es hatte/ es ist vs es war" (present vs imperfect tense), they practice the rule and then they use it when they plan a more funny activity where they create a questionnaire about their home town/ a town they prefer! It worked and kids liked the questionnaire!
