It is based on the 2023 Dec PSA of growth and the work Still I Rise by Tribe and Victoria Fox. <p>This unit on a page provides an overview of the content for the SoW by the same name. It is a handy display tool for curriculum areas, as well as being useful for students to gain an understanding of the learning they will cover.</p> <p>It is broken down into several areas including; key words, activities covered, health and safety warnings, prior learning, assessment, cross-curricular links, content covered and much more. Some content is specifically related to my school, however I will attach a working document so this can be edited as you wish.</p> <p>Please note - this is not verified by an examination board, it is simply my interpretation and knowledge as a professional practitioner of dance. <p>I have created a SoW for the new BTEC Level 1/2 Performing Arts: Dance qualification. It notes the intent, implementation and impact of the SoW and is written in the head, hands, heart format. This breakdown is increasing in popularity with concept PE / Dance curriculums and physical literacy.</p> <p>The SoW is broken down into individual lesson overviews. Please note, to avoid confusion, the lesson plans are not comprehensive lesson plans, they are lesson overviews, which highlight the main content to be covered. These can be adapted and edited as you wish. <p>I have created a work pack / booklet to support my planning and delivery of the new Sept 2022 BTEC Level 1/2 Performing Arts - Dance qualification. The booklet comprises of worksheets for Activity 1,2,3,4, as well as noting useful tips and a glossary word wall.</p> <p>Disclaimer - This is not a scaffolded document to be used in controlled assessment conditions, nor should it be taken into controlled assessments. It is purely a student work booklet to support theory and practical delivery for teachers and students. <p>I have created a modelling document for the new BTEC Level 1/2 Performing Arts: Dance qualification. It is complete of all written tasks and activities to secure a firm understanding of the unit. It is based on the Sept 2023 PSA of Power and the work Kaaris Charge by Andrew Winghart. Whilst scaffolding for students is not appropriate with this assessment module, this document shows them an example of best practice (an aspirational guide). This also comes with a question check list for each written section.</p> <p>This document can be sent in a word format if required.</p> <p>*This has since been through a moderation series where all students achieved a L2D.</p>

<p>This SoW is broken down into 3 half terms (18 lessons), covering either 3 year groups or 3 units of work. It is a comprehensive unit featuring practical and theoretical tasks, providing students with a solid foundation for progression into KS4 or to simply gain some new skills. Each lesson within the scheme of work is outlined by a brief lesson overview. Attached are supporting lesson plans to cover all 18 lessons. Notes for teaching staff to work from are listed, and adaptations can be made as required. Video links to appropriate videos also attached.</p> <p>Topics include;<br /> <strong>World dance</strong> - Haka, African, Capoeira, Bollywood, Samba and assessment lesson.<br /> <strong>Urban dance</strong> - Top rocks, 2/3 steps, coffee grinder, monkey flip, pin drop, hinge, baby freeze, tutting, shoulder stand, partnering, jamming and breaking and assessment.<br /> <strong>Professional works -</strong> 5 Soldiers, Break up story, Cacti, Swan Song, technique and assessment.</p> <p>Upon completion of the unit, students will have a plethora of knowledge which they can apply to their future learning or study. It is hoped that students will have improved upon their technical ability, creative skills and theoretical understanding by the end of the SoWs. Prompts for linked learning are evident throughout.</p> <p><strong>Please note</strong> - this is not a SoW verified by an examination board, it is simply my interpretation and knowledge as a professional practitioner of dance, following a career in the industry and teaching profession. <p>This 6 lesson SoW is an introduction to professional repertoire, aimed at KS3 students. It highlights a different dance style / genre each week, investigating the overall creative intention and practical snippets of the repertoire. The links to the professional works are also shown. Please note, the SoW has lesson break downs on it, however, these are not comprehensive lesson plans, so teaching staff will be required to learn the professional repertoire independently. Links to the clips to do this are noted in the document. All lesson content is bullet pointed within this SoW.</p> <p>The SoW includes activities such as; professional rep from 5 Soldiers by Rosie Kay, E of E by Boy Blue, Matilda the musical, Cacti by Alex Ekman, Swansong by Christopher Bruce and an end of scheme assessment. These are all recognised works by KS4 exam boards, preparing students for further study.</p> <p>The SoW is broken down into the popular HHH (head, hands, heart) concept curriculum and lists the subject intent, implementation and impact, as favoured by Ofsted.
