Trapdoor Game designed to practise speaking skills within the context of ‘Los Deportes’. Designed for GCSE students but also useful for KS3.
It’s a great game to play in plenary as it encourages speaking and listening skills.
Instructions:
The objective of the game is to reach the end (complete all sentences) without falling through any trapdoors. If it’s the first time you play, I recommend that you model the game with a student. You secretly choose one option for each colour and the student has to guess your option for each colour/sentence (e.g. 1A, 2B, 3A, 4C, 5C, 6A). If they guess the correct option they move onto the next colour; if they guess incorrectly, they “fall through the trapdoor” and another student starts from the beginning. The students will have to listen to one another to make sure they do not make the same mistakes (trapdoors) as their classmates.
