Language in Transition - AAVE

This pack of resources prepares students for Unit 2 - Language in Transition - of Edexcel’s English Language IAL, focussing on AAVE. There are 3 resources:

• An informative 19-page PPT with links to 21st century examples and a breakdown of the key lexical, grammatical and phonological features of AAVE and Creolist and Anglicist theories. The PPT takes students through a Section A, looking at the text through the different levels and frameworks.
• A handout containing engaging tasks on grammar, lexis and phonology.
• A model answer (Section A and B) for the January 2018 examination**

I designed this resource for my group of keen students. It took about 4 lessons to complete. They really enjoyed the task on Childish Gambino!
