Tener que infinitive practice: Mini conversations with friends

It is Saturday and Marcos wants to hang out with his friends. He is asking his friends to see if they can hang out with him or not. In some cases, he is asking others who know about his friends’ plans on Saturday. Unfortunately, his friends all have something to do. Complete their mini conversations by writing the correct conjugation of tener (to have) in the first blank and an infinitive phrase in the second blank by using the word bank. You can also come up with infinitive phrases on your own to use in the second blank.

*There are 7 conversations total. All conversations are structured exactly the same except for subjects.

  • A table with the conjugations of tener is included for reference.

Example:

Word bank for infinitive phrase (use in the second blank) *Use in any order

hacer la tarea para las clases / limpiar la casa / leer una novela

  1. Marcos: ¿Qué tienes que hacer tú?

Roberto: Yo _______________ que _________________________________.

  1. Marcos: Isabel, ¿Qué tiene que hacer Elena?

Isabel: Elena _______________ que ________________________________.

Answer key is included on page 2. However, student answers will vary in the second blank.

This practice can be used for classwork, homework, review, quiz, entry or exit slip.
