This bundle will help prepare students to complete their A-Level comparative coursework study focussing on the texts of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Life of Pi by Yann Martel (originally for Edexcel Unit 4).
All students who were originally taught this obtained B-A* grades on their coursework.
The Great Gatsby scheme is to be taught first followed by Life of Pi. The last few Life of Pi lessons focus on comparative evaluation of both texts and introduction to the cousework.
The Life of Pi unit also includes two comprehensive coursework plans (outlining A01, A02, A03, A04 and A05) on the following questions which students can choose from:
- Compare how both authors explore the concept of identity construction
- Compare how both authors explore the theme of spiritual fulfilment and self-actualisation
Both schemes of learning include A05 critical papers.
Lessons focus on the key skill of evaluation to allow students to reach the top bands of the mark scheme.
