Short translation tasks with mark scheme

(29)
Practice translation activities in the style of the new GCSE. Worksheet includes a short version of the AQA mark scheme. I go through the correct translation on the board then get pupils to make corrections and peer assess before I mark their work. Using these every 2-3 weeks as a 10-15 minute activity, to assess pupils regularly and keep exam skills ticking over, rather than doing a massive exam at the end of each topic.

Les vacances - Higher ability KS3 Holidays topic

Les vacances - Higher ability KS3 Holidays topic

(8)
I have previously uploaded resources for the topic of Holidays which I used with low/mid ability Y8 groups. These can be found here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/year-8-les-vacances-expo-2-module-5-updated-11067410 This year I find myself teaching top set Y8 and have had to rethink my approach. Here are my new resources (still in progress - will upload as I go - 6 weeks so far). The infinitives loop resource is not mine, but works really well here. Start the powerpoint, then get a pupil to cover their eyes and say "stop". You press "s" and everyone has to write a sentence using the verb it lands on (correctly conjugated in the perfect tense, of course). I have also been trying a new approach with homework, attempting to use flipped learning so that pupils arrive with the key basic knowledge they need so we can hit the ground running in the lesson. The following things have been researched at home, which is why they are not presented in the lessons: -vocab for transport -perfect tense of regular verbs -all Mrs Vandertramp verbs -vocab for accommodation
Edexcel French GCSE - Listening Practice

Edexcel French GCSE - Listening Practice

(6)
Lessons focusing on the different types of Crossover questions (those which appear on both Foundation and Higher papers). There are several key question types which appear each year and try to trick candidates using tenses, negatives, 3rd person etc., as red herrings. These lessons aim to alert pupils to these pitfalls by practising past questions so they can avoid being caught out in their exam.Uses 2010-2013 as we used 2014 for a mock recently. Also included is a "walking talking mock" where pupils had just done the 2014 Higher paper and we went through the whole paper question by question to mark their own and understand mistakes. All exam questions are property of Edexcel. Numbers refer to the time on the recording which you can get from the Edexcel website.

A reading task about the real figure behind the character of 'Pere Jean&' in the film &';Au revoir les enfants' (information taken from wikipedia). I have a mixed ability class, so gave some pupils the version with line numbers as clues to help them cope with the text which is fairly challenging for Y9. Pupils seemed really interested and shocked by the fact that it was a real-life story, so I hope it works well for you too.
