A cover lesson introducing language for the photo card at AQA GCSE (for the 4-sentences writing task, and as a starting point for the speaking exam). This is for a low ability Y9 group.

2 lessons aimed at top-set Y9 pupils, linked to Module 1 of Expo 3 Rouge. \n\nLesson 1:\n-Intro to film genres - think of an example for each genre listed.\n-Reading task - guess the film from the description (answers: The Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Frozen, The Fault in Our Stars)\n-Find the French (for key phrases to use in writing)\n-Writing task with sentence starters provided.\n\nLesson 2:\n-What do you care about when choosing a film? - ranking priorities and writing about them\n-Opinions of different aspects of the film - review.
Lesson to introduce the simple future tense to mid/low ability Y10 (who had only done immediate future in KS3).
To do the listening, you need to have Kerboodle. I have added a gapfill activity to exploit the Kerboodle sound file in a different way.

Various resources for low ability Y8 class. \n\nFollows Expo 2 Vert. \n\nA few weeks of powerpoint slides + worksheets and other resources used in class.\n\nThe reading task (Reading A and Reading B) was sent out to pupils electronically so some had the underlined version to give them hints.
Resources for a very low ability/low confidence class who have just started the FCSE French course. \n\nMost resources are suitable for/based on KS3. \n\nCovers:\n-countries (en/au/aux)\n-points of the compass and some Geography work\n-transport\n-some activities and opinions
French Christmas traditions activity for the end of term.\n\nTo be done as a treasure hunt / kind of running dictation activity.\n\nPowerpoint slides printed 2 per sheet, cut up and stuck around classroom walls.\n\nGrid between 2-3 pupils. I pupil at a time per team can get up and look at the pictures, bringing back information (the French caption) to fill in the grid.
To revise for a reading assessment towards the end of Expo 2 Module 3 (Les sorties), testing knowledge from Modules 1, 2 and 3.
Includes free time activities, perfect tense, modal verbs.
Print p.1 on plain paper and give a sheet to each group to highlight key words, etc.
Print p.2 on different colours of card and cut into strips (each question on a different strip).
Give each group Q1 - when they have written their answer on the strip of card, they bring it to you and you give them Q2. It's a race to finish first (or get the most questions answered within the time limit).
My pupils loved this and asked if we could do it again soon.
Match-up sheet for computer room lesson:
-Match-up phrases to recap 3rd person.
-Research a sports personality and fill in profile (basic answers, not full sentences) then type up in neat, produce a poster.
Reading activity as preparation for writing a profile of a famous sports person as part of end of module assessment.
Used with Y9 bottom set beginners Spanish - equally suitable for Y7 Spanish. \n\nTrue or false to recap colours.\nGive out sheet and pupils use prior knowledge to complete as much as possible. Can use dictionaries or just do a bit then go through answers and fill in gaps for corto/largo/liso/rizado etc. \n\nReading task - understand the sentences and draw pictures based on them.
Approximately 8-week unit of work on the topic of holidays produced/adapted for Year 8 Set 3. Focus on recognition and use of 3 tenses. Leads up to an unseen writing assessment task (aiming to prepare pupils more for the requirements of the new GCSE as opposed to memorising for controlled assessment).Some powerpoints are 1 lesson, some are 2 or 3. A few slides are taken from other TES resources so many thanks if you recognise your work.
Assorted starters and plenaries for food and drink topic, with pictures. Includes:\n\n-noughts and crosses\n-beat the teacher\n-settling starters (match-up/gapfill/multiple choice) for pupils to do in their books\n-give/keep points translation game\n-spot the mistakes\n-past present or future\n-guessing game
Simple true or false quiz on topic of the Occupation. Used as extension work for a few pupils in a Y9 class watching Au revoir les enfants but equally could be used as starter/plenary.

Texts about what people eat for lunch and why, focusing on reasons for eating at canteen/sandwiches/home - can link in with cultural aspects about school meals in France.
Task 1 - very basic, vocab recognition.
Task 2 - comprehension.
Task 3 - identifying reasons/arguments for and against.
Year 7 reading activity with three short texts including opinions and reasons. Could be suitable for cover work.
