Temps libre (Y7 or Y8)

(7)
Various resources for low ability Y8 class. \n\nFollows Expo 2 Vert. \n\nA few weeks of powerpoint slides + worksheets and other resources used in class.\n\nThe reading task (Reading A and Reading B) was sent out to pupils electronically so some had the underlined version to give them hints.

GCSE advanced structures for middle ability pupils

(3)
A couple of worksheets made for the very top end of a low ability Year 10 group. These pupils are currently producing C-grade quality work, in a class where most others are E/F/G so the worksheet is designed to extend their range of language whilst being something they can work on independently. One worksheet is on verb structures (avant de / apres avoir) and the other is on pronouns (je le trouve, je l'aime, etc.). The topic area is holidays/tourism/town as that is the current.
Los colores - un poema

Los colores - un poema

(3)
Colous poem project for Y7 Spanish - will probably take 3-5 lessons depending on your group. \n\nAfter learning basics of colours, word order and adjective agreements, pupils read a poem and identify nouns and adjectives.\n\nThey develop dictionary skills to research new vocabulary so they can be creative, producing similes using nouns (eg: blue like the sea) then add in adjectives to enhance their similes (eg: blue like the shimmering sea). \n\nAfter the 2-3 lessons provided on powerpoint they can complete their poems and write up in neat for display.
Problem page letter - present and imperfect tense

Problem page letter - present and imperfect tense

(1)
Reading activity suitable for KS4 or high ability Y9. For my mixed ability Y9 class I added paragraph numbers and references for each question on some copies, which helped a bit, but was still too challenging really so I'd save it for top set if you have one! Pupils identify tenses (I did this first, then went through answers before moving on to comprehension) then answer questions about the text. Extension task to extend vocabulary for more able.

Cover work - la personalidad

Cover work - la personalidad

(1)
Simple lesson to revise/introduce personality. Designed for a cover lesson, to ensure classes whose teacher is absent will have covered the same content.
Travel to school - aller + transport

Travel to school - aller + transport

(3)
Lesson introducing the verb aller and different methods of transport.\n\nDoesn't involve loads of drilling of aller, but exposes pupils to the concept of irregular verbs. They should be able to use 'je vais' 'tu vas' and 'il va' and just be aware of the other forms.
Grid for speaking about hobbies in French

Grid for speaking about hobbies in French

(0)
Pupils fill in a hobby/activity they do on different days of the week (can be made up). Don't show partner. Then interview partner to find out what they do, and fill in 2nd column. At end can compare grids to check they understood/assess success in speaking activity.
Expo 3 Module 4 - Les gens comme nous -vert/Rouge

Expo 3 Module 4 - Les gens comme nous -vert/Rouge

(6)
Powerpoint resources for the 1st 5 lessons on this topic with a pretty good bottom set who will be taking French to GCSE.\n\nFocus on revising/consolidating vocabulary from previous years (introducing yourself, physical description) but also using the imperfect tense just in the 'je' form.\n\nAimed at a largely 'Vert' class but some crossover with 'Rouge' due to inclusion of imperfect.
Future plans word mat - writing preparation

Future plans word mat - writing preparation

(2)
Lesson to prepare a bottom set Y9 group for writing about future plans. \n\nSettling starter (wordsearch) followed by team activity to practise using a word mat to write developed sentences.\n\nPupils work in small groups with a mini-whiteboard and a word mat. A sentence appears on the board in English and they have to translate it (most of what they need is in the word mat). \n\nThe team with the most complete answer when the time stops gets a point.
Noel - treasure hunt activity

Noel - treasure hunt activity

(2)
French Christmas traditions activity for the end of term.\n\nTo be done as a treasure hunt / kind of running dictation activity.\n\nPowerpoint slides printed 2 per sheet, cut up and stuck around classroom walls.\n\nGrid between 2-3 pupils. I pupil at a time per team can get up and look at the pictures, bringing back information (the French caption) to fill in the grid.
Reading task - illness and reasons - past tense

Reading task - illness and reasons - past tense

(0)
Reading task to revise the perfect tense with Y9 after teaching illness with 'j'ai mal au...'. Pupils match 2 halves of sentences and work out which illness would result from which activity. As extension, I set 'find the French' on various time phrases and connectives used in the speech bubbles.
