Arctic and climate change drama lesson plan linking geography with performing arts to teach year 4, 5 and 6 children about this topic through movement and discussion. The objective is for children to learn about the Arctic and climate change in a hands on and age appropriate way. Whilst they are visualizing and acting out certain scenarios, they will gain a clearer understanding of what the environment is like, which will enhance the discussion and presentation time at the end. From a drama perspective they will be incorporating team work, communication, mime, role play, and public speaking which should also help them to retain this important geographical information. Activities included are a warm up, imaginative thinking and acting out, role playing scenarios and discussion time with a small group presentation.

Anti-bullying drama work shop for reception and year one children

Antibullying drama and PSHE workshop for Reception and Year One children. To raise awareness of what constitutes as bullying and how best to deal with these challenges in an age appropriate way within and outside primary school. This drama workshop is designed to educate year two and three children about the dangers of bullying. It raises awareness in a safe and familiar environment through drama mediums such as discussion, role play and dressing up. Lesson includes warm up, text work, reading, dressing up, role play, freeze frames, discussion and working as a team encouraging respect to peer group. The purpose is for very young children to gain a gentle understanding about what bullying means and what they should do if they feel they are being treated this way. Using a classic fairy tale and the use of toys we are able to convey this in an age appropriate fun and friendly way. It is also important that small children understand the difference between a joke, or friendly teasing, and actual bullying.

Antibullying drama workshop linking with PSHE for year four, five and six children. This topical drama workshop will educate young people well ahead of high school. Using innovate drama forms such as role play and discussion we look at the core reasons for bullying, how to overcome it and to gain a clearer understanding. This is a powerful workshop which should stay with the children long after the event and increase their awareness, as well as gaining some great team work skills and learning to respect each other. Lesson includes warm up, freeze frames, discussion, role play and improvisation.
