They will need to have a team allocated to them and will be expected to research their team and therefore need access to the internet or the library. Putting the principles of training into action (Specificity, Progression, Overload, Reversibility and Tedium).\nStudents requested to put knowledge from previous lesson into action and construct a training plan in written form. The layout of their task is explained and scaffolded including a model answer. End task is differentiated with different groups given different sports to create a plan for. Each group is named after a famous sportsperson beginning with the first 5 letters of the alphabet. E.g. A - Adams - top group, B - Brownlee - 2nd to top group etc.

This is a quiz to be used for fun at Easter. There are three rounds, each with 10 questions. The first round is Eggs, the second is Easter around the World and the third is The Easter Story. I've tried to make it applicable to all by making the quiz fun and informative rather than pursuing a religious ideal, however I did think it important that we look at why Easter is such an important religious festival whether we celebrate it in that way or not. The answer to each question is revealed before moving on to the next question, therefore I would suggest that answers are written on a whiteboard and points allocated accordingly before moving on to the next question. Each question has some supporting information to either explain the answer or to give some further contextual information. The last page has a question that encourages debate, it's not part of the quiz but can fill in some time should it be required. It's entirely at your own discretion. All feedback, positive or negative is gratefully received.

This years pre-release material for the 2016 AQA GCSE PE exam is about an athlete called Lucy. I'm providing 11 questions on a sheet ready for immediate use as a test or exam. Each answer is worth between 2 and 8 marks. Each answer requires a structured, written answer. Depending on the ability of the students, the test should last about 50 minutes. For those who finish early, they can mark each others papers with the comprehensive Mark Scheme provided. Both exam and mark scheme can be retained for future revision work.

Each sheet encourages students to recall information and then use that information to answer a GCSE style question. I have used this successfully with all of my students but I concentrated on my lower attaining students trying to get them to plan their answers rather than just writing what came into their heads. In later revision sessions I used them in conjunction with a stopwatch, timing how long it took students to answer and encouraging them to spend a minute per mark ( a 4 mark question should be completed in 4 minutes). Because there are 4 sheets, each student can work on a different one to their neighbour and although they can share information, they wont be able to directly copy. You can run this activity over a number of days or as one longer activity. There are over 50 questions that need to be cut out and folded over and an answer sheet. Each student picks a question and then answers it on their sheet. The questions are all personal and are designed to reveal a little about their personal history, their thoughts and their interests. Once complete, they return their questions and pick another. This can be done alternatively in pairs where the first student would ask their neighbour the question and write down their response so that they are learning about their classmate. The next question has to be asked to someone else and their sheet completed thereby getting to know other people too. This information can be used for a class display or a quiz based upon their classmates or just for fun to look at the following year. Sample questions: What is your favourite photo? If you could invent anything, what would it be? Some questions are closed questions, try and get students to expand upon a "Yes," or "No," answer.

This is a game that I used as a starter in every lesson with my GCSE PE group. It's a simple, fun way of getting little snippets of info. into their heads. Give each student at least one slip of paper, more able students can have 2 or more. Each slip has a blue answer, followed by a red question. Every answer corresponds to someone else's question. Whoever has the "Start," begins by asking their question, whoever has the corresponding answer, states it and then reads out their question. This continues until you get to the finish. If someone doesn't know they have the answer, get everyone left in the game to read out their answer until the correct one is announced. You can then ask that person the question at the end of the lesson to see if they have retained their knowledge. My kids loved it and after a couple of weeks it was taking them 2 minutes to complete instead of 10.

This is a power point presentation with an attached worksheet. I created it for a couple of reasons: The first being that going through all the information would reinforce learning and also to fill in any gaps in understanding. The second was to allow everyone to have a good set of notes to use as a revision aid, hence the worksheet. My intention was to fly through the presentation, adding contextual information and answering any questions that are raised. This worked well as it limited opportunities for students to fall behind as it was such a fast pace, you couldn't afford to have a chat or day-dream. The presentation is littered with questions for students to answer periodically in order to express their understanding. This whole revision unit can take anywhere between 1 hour and 3 hours to complete. Elements can be given as homework if required with the power point made available to students.
