This lesson is designed for spec point 4.1.1.5 for the AQA trilogy course. It also has some activities for looking at microscope slides, in preparation for the required practical. One of the resources in this has been taken from the AQA website and adapted for the lesson. I hope this helps anybody teaching the course out there :)

For each of the biology only combined science required practicals, I have made a slide of quick fire questions, linked to the topic the RP is about (not necessarily just focused on the required practical), the next slide has pictures of the RP, that you can use for discussion and it has some prompts e.g. what are the variables? And the next slide contain the mark schemes and examiner reports for some past paper questions linked to the required practicals and the general topics they are based on. For each of them, I have also included a pdf of past paper questions linked to the required practical or based on the topic (if I was unable to find a suitable question linked to the RP). I really hope people find this useful, as a basis of running through/revising the required practicals.

All the key pieces of information needed for this topic. It includes the combined knowledge and triple knowledge needed and I have clearly boxed off the triple information. I hope this helps students with their revision.

I made these documents so when we go through a specification point in class students can keep a track. There is also space for them to date and RAG each time they go back over each specification point. This is a really quick and easy way for the student to track what they can do and what areas they need to improve on.

OCR 21st Century Biology B7 crib sheets. Due to the module being large I split it into the three main sections with one A4 page of questions for each section. I have tried to incorporate as many key questions linked to the specification as I can onto one page of A4 for each section.

OCR 21st Century Biology B5 Revision Resources. The crib sheet has got questions for students to answer about all the things they need to know for B5. The hexagons have keywords and examples written on them; I cut them up on card and get students to match up words that they can connect together and then they write on the table (using a whiteboard pen) why they have connected those keywords. The keywords table has the answers on the first two pages and just the definitions on the last two pages, so students can research and fill in the keywords.

I have designed these to question the knowledge required from the specification. The higher content is highlighted with (HIGHER). Any ideas for improvements are welcomed :)

OCR 21st Century Biology B6 Revision Resource. Crib sheet of questions, to help students revise B6.

Quick fire questions and answers for the digestion, cells, microscopes and photosynthesis topics. Students can use these to help memorise the basic knowledge for these topics. They can be used in many ways, such as with a board game, where students have to answer a question correctly to go forward the number of spaces on the dice and backwards that number of spaces if they get the question incorrect.

Key information about the 5.2 Natural selection and evolution topic. I have split the triple information into a separate section so it is easy for students to navigate. I have left the text pretty plain, so students can highlight/underline as they wish to make it specific for them. I hope you and your students find this resource helpful for their revision.

OCR 21st Century Biology B4 Revision Resources. The crib sheet is a mind map of things students need to know for B4. I print the keywords two sides per page and double sided so they all fit on one A4 page and students can write down definitions of all the keywords; they can then test each other. I cut the board game questions up on card; the question is at the top and the answer is in italics beneath the question. Students can use these how ever they want e.g. see how many their partner can answer in one minute, or play a board game like snakes and ladders and they get an extra roll of the dice for every question they get correct.

This sheet is designed as a quick revision of the water balance topic for AQA Biology Only. The answer sheet is the second page. I hope this helps teachers/students.

Two pages of the key information students need to know about the inheritance topic. I have highlighted the triple and higher only content. I have also included a small amount fo information on cystic fibrosis, sickle cell anaemia and Huntington’s disease, as the specification is vague about particular inherited disease that need to be known and these have commonly be used at GCSE in the past.
