In this resource, I have constructed 12 Section A (Non-Calculator) assessments for the NEW specification of Edexcel Functional Skills (Level 2) in Mathematics. There is also a PowerPoint with worked solutions/mark scheme to display.
This resource is pitched at a similar level to the Section A Sample Paper that Edexcel has provided: Each assessment is four sides of A4 in length, each totalling 16 marks (as per Edexcel’s specification).
The 12 x 4 questions cover the vast majority of the Edexcel specification, with topics including:
Estimation
Substituting numbers into formulae and ‘word formulae’
Order, approximate and compare decimals
Add, subtract, multiply or divide decimals
Calculate using ratios and direct proportion (I felt inverse proportion would be too difficult for non-calculator tests)
Calculate amounts of money, percentage increases and percentage decreases
Compound Measures: (Speed = distance / time), (Density = mass / volume)
Perimeters and Areas of 2D shapes
Drawing plans and side views
Angles
Median and Mode of a set of quantities
Compare the mean, median, mode and range of datasets
NB: Each of these topics are not covered equally.

These exam questions are to be used as a supplementary resource for students’ development. There are PowerPoint solutions for students to mark their work themselves. I have titled this as a homework but you can call it what you like. The vast majority of these are taken from Edexcel’s Examwizard but they compliment the OCR specification very well.

This is a short set of questions and accompanying set of answers on the topic of Rounding to x Decimal Places. This is suitable for GCSE Foundation students sitting Edexcel or Eduqas / WJEC specifications. So called ‘pico-Assessments’ as they are to be used as more frequent formative assessment, in conjunction with my fortnightly ‘nano-Assessments’, to check and clarify comprehension of set topics.
Please check my shop and YouTube channel for future resources.
It would mean a lot to me if you could review this if it proves to be helpful. Thank you!
This is a scheme of work and curriculum intent established from the most recent Edexcel A-Level Further Mathematics Specification for Pure 1 and Pure 2 modules.
