A 3-page worksheet to introduce the use of the pronoun ‘en’ in different set phrases for talking about food. Very little prior knowledge is assumed other than some basic opinions on food items, and some time phrases like souvent and jamais, so this lesson should appear in a sequence after pupils have acquired those. It is practised mainly in the present tense, but extension tasks are provided in other tenses, Activities include a match-up, grammar explanation, teacher-led listening, translation into English, sentence unjumbling task and a short, guided sentence-writing task. A set of 5 activities and answers in Spanish for students studying Almodóvar’s film Julieta, at A level, Pre U or similar level (16+), intended for when students are about to watch the film or have just watched it. This is an alternative to my previous resource which used the same overview material, but was in the format of a traditional reading comprehension. This format incorporates 5 different activities, each of which allow for more active manipulation of the language, so it is important that the activities are not completed superficially – allow sufficient lesson time during each activity to focus on the content of the texts as well as the grammatical or syntactical aspects of the language. This content could be used for 1-2 lessons or 1 lesson and homework.

Ideal for encouraging pupils to incorporate more complex grammar and structures into their work by scaffolding extended sentences with causal markers, as well as containing lots of verb + infinitive structures and complex opinion phases. In addition to the sentence builder, there is a list of 24 example sentences that can be exploited as a quiz quiz trade activity, or you could use them in other ways eg. oral translation into English, or as a teacher-led listening - read some of the sentences and pupils translate on mini whiteboards using the sentence builder.

A worksheet designed for completion shortly after watching the film Julieta by Almodovar to consolidate understanding of the plot. They could either be completed as quite quick activities for students to quickly get an overview of the plot, or could easily be stretched out to cover a whole lesson with lots of discussion about the plot in more detail and students’ ideas about the themes of the film, the style and any other observations.

A reading comprehension in Spanish on some bullet points providing general background information about Almodóvar's 2016 feature Julieta. Intended for students studying the film at A Level or Pre-U. This is a good activity for homework or classwork to be completed either before watching the film or just after.

A worksheet with several long reading comprehension texts and variety of activities for students to develop an understanding of the main characters of Julieta by Almodovar. The texts are in Spanish to equip students to discuss the characters in the TL. Answers for activities are included. You could then set students some translations based on the language used in the texts, or ask them to summarise the main points of the text in written Spanish.
