This resource is a seven page PDF document with voting slips for each of the Children’s Book Council of Australia categories for 2024’s Book of the Year Awards. On each page there are four voting slips which just need to be photocopied and handed out. Each student ticks the book he/she thinks should win ‘Book of the Year’ in that particular category. Once the votes have been tallied the teacher can advise the students of which book won in their in-school vote. Voting slips are provided for each of the six categories in the CBCA Book of the Year awards. The idea behind this resource is for teachers to hold their own student voting for ‘Book of the Year’ before the actual official winners are announced. This encourages students to take an interest in which books have been nominated for each category. This experience also provides many opportunities for interesting discussions about which books was judged best by the judges as opposed to by the students. Each bingo card features eight squares with various pictures which begin with the blend cards. These cards are used by the Bingo Caller. This game is an excellent resource to use to help students with their basic sound blends.
