This 8-page book can be printed and arranged to use for guided reading purposes in small group instruction. It was written as an adaptation from Helen Keller’s autobiography, The Story of My Life. The actual book may not be accessible to students new to English, special education students, students reading below grade level, as well as young readers.
The little book tells the story of how Helen Keller learned what words were, and that she can use her hands to communicate. Included with the book are a set of vocabulary cards with pictures for pre-teaching new vocabulary, and a sequence of events chart that can be used as an after-reading activity.
