The games consolidate vocabulary for these family members: le frere (brother), la soeur (sister), le fils (son), la fille (daughter), le pere (father), la mere (mother), le bebe (baby), le grand-pere (grandfather), la grand-mere (grandmother), le beau-pere (stepfather), la belle-mere (stepmother), le demi-frere (stepbrother), la demi-soeur (stepsister), l’oncle (uncle), la tante (aunt), le cousin (male cousin), la cousine (female cousin) and les jumeaux (twins).
4 in a Row: Print word card sets on different coloured card or paper (or print the different coloured sets) for pairs / individuals to compete against each other, laying down a card of their colour on the correct person. Think strategically to line 4 cards in a row (horizontally, vertically or diagonally). Or play without cards with a laminated board and dry-wipe pen.
Happy Families: Print cards in colour and laminate. 10 cards in each family set. Each family is a different colour, so students practise French colours too. Choose 4 to 6 French family words to practise and put these cards (from all seven colour families) into play. English and French word sets and instruction card included. Print in A3 or adjust printer settings for A4.
Loop Cards: 18 words in a continuous loop. Complete as a domino activity or orally as a group or whole class.

Calculating Change from Five Pounds Money Games: differentiated, illustrated four-in-a-row boards, each featuring 36 prices in UK currency (sterling) for calculating change from £5, plus a 20-card loop card / dominoes set. Printable games for starters, early finishers activities, revision etc.
FOUR IN A ROW
A fun, strategic activity for consolidating this key money / financial / shopping skill. Ideal for maths lessons or Money Week skills practice. Originally designed for Key Stage 2 (KS2) Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 (Y3 / Y4 / Y5 / Y6) but might suit others. In Scotland, it’s for Primary 4, 5, 6 and 7.
Includes:
2 PDF files
2 standard game boards (featuring different items and prices from each other)
2 lower ability boards (same as above but less challenging calculations)
Answer grids for at-a-glance checking by students or teacher
Teacher notes
Laminate and use again and again. Children work as pairs against pairs or one against one to get 4 correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. It works especially well if they roll a dice to find which column they must pick a calculation from (columns numbered 1-6). If there are no questions left in a column, skip a go or roll again. Imagining that they pay for each item with £5, pupils use a different coloured whiteboard pen to record on the board the change due for each of their transactions or add an initial or symbol if both teams are using the same colour. I recommend printing in A3 but A4 is okay too. The LA versions have a star next to the title. Print on different coloured card or paper if required.
LOOP GAME / FOLLOW ME CARDS / DOMINOES
A 20-card set that can start with any card. A child reads the ‘I spend’ part first as they make their ‘purchase’ with others working out if they have the relevant ‘I give you’. Use as a game for groups or as a whole class starter or plenary (in pairs if necessary). LA pupils could be given less challenging cards so they can still experience success.

Key Stage 2 (KS2) Literacy / SPaG revision activities to use when recapping the basics of what makes a sentence to help students work out where to put full stops and capital letters. This grammar and punctuation (SPaG) activity provides revision of punctuating sentences with full stops and capital letters for Year 4, 5 and 6 (Y4, Y5 and Y6). There are 40 differentiated full stops and capital letters self-check sentences cards for independent or paired work. PDF format in a Zip file.
Regular use helps students avoid fragments and run on sentences in their own writing and recognise where sentences begin and end
Encourages students to use editing and proofreading skills
Use as a regular starter or early finisher activity or main task in a grammar lesson
30 middle / higher ability cards and a separate set of 10 for lower ability
MA and HA cards are the same, only the MA version gives a hint about the number of sentences to find
LA version has more basic sentences and shorter texts
Designed to be printed back to back with answer side (changes printed in red) so students can self-check
Answer sides could be printed separately instead
Best printed in colour but answers are in bold so okay in black and white too
NO PRINT OPTION: Why not display cards on the board as a regular whole class activity? Students could write the first word of each identified sentence on a whiteboard.
Front sides have a short, engaging paragraph with no full stops and capital letters. If cards are laminated, students could mark them on. They could also write text out if you wish, before self-marking.
Students must start proper nouns with capitals, though as the focus is sentence demarcation, I have kept these to a minimum.
Small number of commas also missing. These have been added to answer sides but not in red as they are not the focus.
Dyslexia-friendly font and spacing used, together with pastel background
All files also included without background
Non-pastel background versions could be printed on pastel paper

Over 100 pages of worksheets and puzzles on 12 AND 24 hour time (l’heure informelle et l’heure officielle), using analogue and digital clocks, in quarter hour and 5 minute intervals. 12 and 24 hour times are on separate pages so you can focus on one or the other or both. Also includes questions and sentences, linked to sporting activities, opening hours and aspects of daily routine. Support pages and full answer keys included. Great also to link maths measurement learning with French. My French basics resources are made for students beginning French and near beginners in KS2 or early KS3 (Years 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8) and equivalents but they may suit others, depending on experience. Please check the previews to assess suitability. PDF format. 107 pages.
You can purchase this pack as part of a Telling the Time in French BUNDLE, which also includes a pack of printable games and activities and a presentation and flashcards pack.
INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE:
Whether you are focusing on the 12 or 24-hour clock – or both – there’s plenty to choose from here. Just select the resources you want. The 12 hour versions of each resource can be found first. In almost all cases, these are then followed by 24 hour versions (except for the maze). The “12h” or “24h” in the top right corner will help you identify them.
The worksheets and puzzles are at various levels of difficulty, all of them differentiated, to provide plenty of variety and challenge for you to select the most appropriate for the range of ages and abilities that you teach.
SUPPORT PAGES: Word mats to display or print for students who require it, for 12 and 24-hour time, and in black and white too. Please note that these support pages are also contained in my printable games packet for this topic.
WORKSHEETS: 10 worksheets (with answer keys), all in both 12 AND 24-hour versions, and all differentiated at least two ways using a star system. The 1-star version is the least challenging, for lower ability, younger or less experienced students and almost all of these focus on quarter hour intervals. Many of the 2-star worksheets are in five minute intervals. For Worksheet 4, the 1-star version is in five minute intervals and the 2-star is to the nearest minute, to provide variety and extra challenge. The two “À quelle heure…?” worksheets (Les Activités / Le Transport) are differentiated 3 ways.
PUZZLES: There’s an airport puzzle, hidden word puzzle and maze. The airport puzzle is differentiated; the other two are not. The maze also does not have a 24h version.

French KS2 / KS3 MEGA BUNDLE 3
This active, printable KS2 Mental Maths starter activity for multiplication of three factors is a treasure hunt / scavenger hunt or relay type game, to be played in teams, with differentiation built in. It’s ideal as a whole class warm up or plenary at Year 4, Year 5 and 6, perhaps when focusing on multiplication, especially the associative property / law of multiplication. It can be played multiple times in a lesson or across several lessons as groups can use different card sets each time. Teams complete a treasure hunt-type chain of three single digit numbers multiplication calculations, followed by a ‘Find the Target Number’ mental maths challenge, using a mixture of the four operations. There are 54 double-sided cards, forming sets of 6 cards for 9 teams.
A key feature is the chance to involve lower ability students in a fun whole class activity to give them a boost of confidence without it being obvious their calculations are less challenging (3 of the sets are at an easier level). Full instructions for teacher and pupils is included, along with solutions.
I have a collection of these Grab the Answers games, each one focusing on a different maths concept. You can explore the bundle below.
Students collaborate on a treasure hunt type maths trail and when they’ve collected all 5 answers, they are given a target, which they must make using 3 given numbers. You can print and laminate the cards in batches of 3 sets, so if you don’t require them all, you needn’t print them. The cards should be printed double-sided (they’ve been laid out to facilitate this). I print by selecting the ‘2-Sided Short Edge (Top)’ option. However, if you can only print one-sided, print all the even-numbered pages, replace the paper, and print the odd-numbered pages on the back.
Give each team their ‘Start’ card. Spread out all other cards, answer side up. You may wish to remove cards from any set not being used, although this is not necessary. On your signal, teams turn over their Start card and complete the calculation. Each team sends one person to collect the correct answer card, on the other side of which will be their next question and a letter to confirm which team it belongs to. Ensure teams immediately replace any cards not marked with their letter. The process continues until the team have answered all five calculations. On the other side of the final answer card will be a target number, which teams must make, using the numbers printed in boxes in the bottom right corner of 3 of their cards. Use all 3 numbers and only once each, using any of the 4 operations. The first to make their target number wins! One possible answer for each of the target challenges is printed on the solution cards.

While using and developing their literacy skills, students will learn about Three Wise Men and their role within the Christmas Story as well as finding out about the significance of Epiphany to Christians and some of the various traditions associated with this religious celebration in different countries. These Epiphany themed close reading tasks and fun puzzle are in a printable non-editable PDF file with 20 pages. An additional US spelling / grammar version is included in the Zip file with a small number of amendments to the UK version.
Also available in this money-saving January Reading Comprehensions BUNDLE.
Most activities are provided at 2 levels of challenge, so will suit a range of year groups and provide appropriate levels of challenge for different abilities within many classes.
I am designing these non-fiction comprehension and activities packs to provide a time-saving bank of flexible themed tasks linked to dates throughout the year. They feature very short texts (about 250 - 300 words). Each pack is linked to a particular month but of course you can use them whenever you want! Each provides comprehension questions, a cloze procedure task and other linked tasks. The other tasks are on aspects of spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, grammar, writing or reading (this varies across the different packs). Build all activities into your Literacy or English programme, or use for cover lessons, homework, early finisher tasks or for those busy times when you just need something low-prep, meaningful, relevant and engaging at the last minute!
CONTENTS:
Reading passage (2 levels of difficulty)
Cloze procedure task (2 levels of difficulty) – using same passage
Comprehension questions (2 levels of difficulty) – using same passage
Compare and contrast task – using additional text, where 2 students from different cultures outline their experiences of Christmas and Epiphany / Three Kings Day. A Venn Diagram is then to be filled in with key details to show similarities and differences.
Crossword puzzle - students will be able to answer many clues from having read the texts in this pack but could have internet access to search for the remaining clues.

Upper Key Stage 2 (KS2) Y5 and Y6 perimeter games: 10 bingo / lotto game boards and 60 cards are included in this differentiated pack. There are 5 boards and 30 cards in two sets. ALL ANSWERS ARE INCLUDED. PDF format. In Scotland, this suits Second Level Maths, Primary 6 and 7.
Each child or pair has a board with 6 perimeter answers on it. The cards feature 2D shapes with the measurements of some sides marked on, which the children use to work out the perimeter. Children have a board each or per pair. I recommend having one perimeter shape card turned over at a time and all players working out if it matches the perimeter answer on their board.
Lower and higher ability versions both contain a variety of squares, rectangles, irregular quadrilaterals and triangles, while the two-star version also features compound shapes. The one-star version has more simple calculations to work out in metres. The two-star version includes decimal numbers and some conversion between centimetres and metres.
Answer cards are included for pupil self-checking or to help teachers assess. The cards can also be used separately from the bingo /lotto game, with individuals or pairs working out the perimeter and checking. They could perhaps time themselves to see how many they can correctly answer in 5 or 10 minutes. Or small groups could compete against each other to get the answer first, scoring a point if they manage it.
If you don’t need to use both versions at the same time, I recommend printing the boards back to back to save on card and laminating pouches. If using both sets of cards, I suggest printing them on different coloured card to help keep them separate.

Fun times tables revision activities! Speed up students’ mental recall with these easy-to-prepare, printable, well-differentiated times tables facts board games. Use as starter activities / warm ups in Key Stage 2 (especially Year 4, 5 and 6 - Y4 / Y5 / Y6) Maths lessons, or early finisher activities, morning starters, or as part of a multiplication unit. There are 24 pages of boards (multiple versions of the same boards for differentiation and eco-printing), together with full instructions for the teacher. Simply choose the pages you want to print and laminate for children to play using dry-wipe / whiteboard pens. In Scotland, use for Second Level Maths, Primary 5, 6 and 7.
CONTENTS:
Boards 1-4 feature 2 to 9 times tables calculations
Boards 5-8 are versions of the first four boards with some 11 and 12 times table calculations added
All boards come in colour and black and white versions
**Further differentiation: **All 2-9 times table versions come in a differentiated format too, with sidebars added, featuring all answers listed in numerical order. This works really well with lower ability or younger pupils who require a little more support. They can score through the number they have used each time.
The boards were originally designed to be printed in A3 size so you may need to quickly adjust your printer settings to print in A4, which works fine too.
INSTRUCTIONS: Two children (or two pairs of children) take it in turns to write an answer over a times table question on the board. Ideally they use a different colour whiteboard pen, however if this is not possible they could add an initial or symbol each time too. First to get 4 in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - is the winner. The times tables questions are designed to print in faintish grey (on the black and white versions) or white (on the colour versions) so as not to get in the way of the children’s answers. It works especially well if pupils roll a dice to determine which column they should answer a question from. The columns are numbered 1-6. If the column is already completed, they could either miss a go or roll again.
