A sensory story with some halloween activity ideas. Created for my PMLD learners - as I realised I hadn’t done anything for Halloween tomorrow! : ) … and thought I’d share in case anyone else was thinking the same.
If you have a class or young person that enjoys sensory story activities this might be useful or I hope a handy starting point. It could also be easily adapted to a massage story or something similar. I’ve added some helpful links/URLs to music that I’d play during the suggested activities. At the bottom of each slide is also the story line and an activity idea to explore.
Happy Halloween!

A fun musical freebie I made last year. Each class is to be given a classic Christmas song from one of the slides in the PowerPoint and then create their own music video or musical performance version of it. This was created with an end of term assembly in mind last year, so even when socially distanced in bubbles etc. all pupils could join in.
Each slide has an image of a musician/band and is hyperlinked to their song on YouTube (right-click the image) this is for pupils to watch for inspiration. I recommend if pupils are making music videos you then link the pupils versions. Each class can then watch each other’s performances in their class or at an assembly and vote for their Christmas number one - not voting for their own performance of course!
You can adapt this in many ways - as an intro to do live performances or perhaps use it for just a bit of fun for staff in the run-up to the holiday.
Hope you enjoy!
Whether your class has twelve drummers drumming, eleven pipers piping or nine ladies dancing - this calendar has twelve surprise Christmas songs selected for them. This is a structured way to introduce songs to pupils, they can be used for twelve classes to create their own musical performances or as themes for the last twelve days of school in the run up to the Christmas holiday.
Each door/slide will reveal a new picture - right-click over it to see the hyperlinked song choice. The songs linked in this PowerPoint are aimed for primary aged pupils and SEN schools but could work with a range of age groups and settings.
Songs include:
Frosty the snowman
Jingle bells
Holly jolly Christmas
Santa got stuck up the chimney
O Christmas tree
Sleigh ride
We wish you a merry Christmas
Here is a pupil passport template I use to support my PMLD students.
Each year I receive multiple specialist reports for each of my students and share the information with staff working with my class.
These passport cards are a very easy way to share the relevant info in simple terms for any staff member that comes into the classroom - So they will know easily how each student communicates, where best to place themselves should they be working with a young person with visual impairment for example etc.
Easily add in the key information to support each young person and edit as new information becomes available.
These have been helpful in supporting my students and staff and I hope you find them useful too.
A PowerPoint presentation for students to use on a touch screen computer or class interactive board.
