A simple list (with definitions) of 30 tier 2 and tier 3 words that I have spotted when reading various grade 9 level responses over the years to help students make perceptive comments about the play.

AQA Paper 1 and Paper 2 Walk Through

This free resources contains a walk-through of an AQA English Language Paper 1 extract using the Mr Fisher extract. I have managed to fit the extract and the questions onto one sheet of A4 to save on printing costs. The writing frames are aimed at students targeting a grade 4/5. However, I have also included the aspirational AQA sample model responses at a higher level in case they are useful. Also contains a walkthrough for the Paper 2 2019 exam about elephants.

Avoid having to write out the same comment 30 times by using this numerical code that link to generic targets you are likely to give to a reading or writing response. Saves me hours of time every week and how my department have started to adopt it too!

Teaching instructions: There are 20 key extracts from the novel grouped into bronze, silver and gold for difficulty. Give each student an extract to focus on. Each student completes differentiated questions based on the extract. The next step is to carousel and share answers. Students then jot down notes for all characters on the graphic organiser which is also provided.
