Hello, I'm a Year 4 teacher currently on Maternity Leave with my first baby. My resources are for Reception-Year 4 from different teaching positions that I have held. My specialism and passion is English, and I especially love creating resources for popular children's fiction.

A task-setting powerpoint to guide the children through writing persuasive letters to Theseus as either the King of Athens or Princess Ariadne. I used this with a mixed 3/4 class and the letters featured were written by some of the more able students. Includes features of a persuasive text and the planning with objectives from the 2014 Year 4 English Curriculum.

This is the classic storytelling game of fill-in-the-blanks, fold it down and pass it on. I have included some instructions in case it is unfamiliar to you. I think it would be most appropriate for Y1-4, but my Year 4s found it hilarious.

This is a 12-lesson unit plan of Charlotte's Web (including two lessons to watch and discuss the film) that I used with a mixed Y3/4 class. The children loved reading this story and we made woollen pom-pom spiders for our display board. The unit ends with the children writing their own friendship rescue story. I think this unit would be most suited to Years 2-4.

This unit of work covers 15 lessons following the story of The Butterfly Lion by Michael Morpurgo. The downloads include the full planning with objectives taken from the 2014 curriculum for Year 4, and a task-setting Powerpoint for each week.
This resource also includes the glossary, so please do not buy this separately as the slides are included in these files. The Powerpoint complements the book as the teacher reads through the pages, explaining the meaning of unfamiliar phrases as they go. The activities have a SPaG (spelling, punctuation and grammar) focus, including lessons using prepositions, conjunctions and adverbs of time, cause and place.
(Some plenaries in the planning make reference to GPS tests which were not created by me and so are not included.)

Using the acronym 'Hold Them Open' for Hundreds, Tens and Ones, this powerpoint encourages the children (using their fingers) to count the number of hundreds, tens and ones in each three digit number as the slides partition the numbers.

This resource was used with my Year 2 class for them to describe the effects of their own magical medicine. I've included a loose plan so that the worksheets make more sense. The worksheet has been differentiated three ways.

Using penguin's flippers and crab's pincers, this powerpoint takes children through their times tables. I used this with a Year 3 class, but is easily adaptable. (You will need dice, I used giant dice)

This is a lesson for Early Years predicting the next shape in a pattern, it could also be useful for a lower ability Year 1 class or for introducing a new topic. The children have to spot the next shape to appear in the pattern and show which shape they think will come next.

I did this as one whole lesson but it could be spread out as needed. The file includes a letter from the Easter bunny stating that he is going to retire. Next to it is a writing frame for the children to analyse, looking especially at the purpose of each paragraph. On the next page (I printed them double sided) is a shared plan and letter in response. On the final page is a new letter from the 'Bunny Bandit' who has captured the Easter Bunny and the children must write their persuasive letters independently in response.

This resource helps children to understand how the author uses actions to describe how a character is feeling. Using four short quotes from Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach, children can draw a face depicting the feeling in the box and then think about how the character might move if they feel this way.

An 18-lesson unit of work (including two lessons to watch the film) on The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe by CS Lewis. My Year 4 class absolutely loved reading this book and I think these resources could be easily adapted for any KS2 class.

A short powerpoint to accompany each lesson in a unit of work for The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. There are 18 lessons in total (including two to watch the film), which took me about 4 weeks to complete with my Year 4 class. The objectives in the planning come from the 2014 English curriculum for Year 4, but I think these lessons would be easily adaptable for any KS2 class. At the end of the unit the children will write their own short story.
