Converting Distances Miles & Kilometres

Here’s a colourful powerpoint with examples and fun facts to help learn the different methods to convert km to miles and miles to km. I used ‘km’ to represent kilometres and ‘mi’ to represent miles, to avoid confusion with metres. Teacher explanation is required alongside. Helpful links at the end for written work. Requires some basic understanding of ratios. Also uses a conversion graph.

Colourful Rules of Speech Slides step-by-step

Aimed at Lower KS2 or upper KS2 as a revision method, this presentation introduces a short text. It then introduces a rule, allows students to edit the text accordingly then repeats. Colourful and uses bright colours to keep children engaged. Teaches students to correctly punctuate speech, use capital letters, the new line new speaker rule and how commas are used. Writing speech becomes more simple. Great for a whole-class activity but also for one-on-one.

KS2 Inference for guided reading and comprehension

This is a fun, more creative way to introduce your class/pupil(s) on how to answer inference questions. It has different aspects to it, including inferring from pictures and from the first chapter of novels. A key message is backing up your answer with evidence. This is practiced by repeatedly asking pupils what they know in comparison to what they guess/infer/assume. This enables them to easily find quotes and back up written answers which will help them in the SATS and other examinations. Pictures thanks to pixabay.

Year 6 Arithmetic Practice: Written + - x ÷ Skills

Colourful and engaging presentation. Enables in-person teacher explanation and preference. Follows a pattern of introduction of the skill, practicing together then independent practice. Addition is introduced first, then subtraction, then multiplication followed by a summary. This is proceeded by division, another summary, long multiplication then another summary. AIMED AT KS2 PUPILS WHO HAVE BEEN TAUGHT THIS BEFORE AND HAVE FORGOTTEN BUT ACCESSIBLE FOR ALL.
