Exit tickets can be used at the end of a lesson to assess children’s knowledge and understanding. They can be used to assess what the children have learnt during the lesson or their prior knowledge. These phonics exit tickets can be used to assess phonics knowledge. Each ticket contains a grapheme and words that the children could use with the grapheme missing. Children can therefore say one of the words from their card or can work out the words and then see if they can think of their own word.
These exit tickets can be printed and laminated or displayed on the Interactive Whiteboard. Each child could answer the same question or they could all have their own ticket - this method is useful for differentiating and assessing the phonics knowledge of specific children.
Phonics Activity PowerPoint
A phonics activity for practising and revising vowel digraphs and trigraphs or special friends sounds.
Children are shown the focus sound and then real words and alien words with the focus sound missing. Children can practise writing real and alien words on their whiteboards using the focus sounds. The activity could be used during phonics lessons, as an intervention for any children requiring extra support or in the lead up to the phonics screening.
A good activity to support children to recognise sounds plus spell and read words.
Phonics Activity Workbook
A fun phonics activity workbook covering vowel digraphs and trigraphs.
Each new ‘special friend’ sound has three workbook pages - one to practise writing real words, one to identify alien words and one to complete a sentence using the focus sound in a word. There is a space on the sentence writing page for children to draw a picture to match their sentence.
This activity workbook could be completed as part of a group, independently or could be sent home as home learning/homework.
I have also used this workbook as Early Morning Work for children to practise their phonics. The workbook supports children to become more confident with each focus sound and as the activities are repeated for each new sound the children can become more independent when
completing the workbook.

Each set of cards contains a picture scene for example a set of shelves or a spaceship and pictures to be cut out for example currant buns or aliens. Children add the correct number of objects to the scene then sing the song and take objects away. There is also a space for children to fill in the missing number or name.
These cards can be laminated to use again.

A set of counting song PowerPoints covering five counting songs.

Children can practise counting the dots or can place objects such as counters over the dots to practise counting to 10. Each card displays the number too so children start to associate the number of objects with the numeral.
These cards can be laminated for continued use.

Children have to match the numeral, picture and word. They could also use these cards to order numbers from 0 - 10, order the pictures from 0 - 10 or order the number words from zero to ten.

A Maths game aimed at Year 1 children.
The game includes addition and subtraction facts to 10, 2D and 3D shapes, doubling and halving. Each child is given a differentiated clue card showing either a number problem or a shape problem, children solve the problem and then need to look for the solution in the picture slide. The aim of the game is for children to be the first to spot the solution to their problem.
Children enjoy solving the problems and trying to be the first to spot their solution. This game supports children to recognise shapes, recognise number names and learn maths facts.

A powerpoint focussing on classroom behaviours. This powerpoint can be used as an assembly or during a PSHCE lesson. The powerpoint encourages children to think about positive classroom behaviours and gives examples of what positive classroom behaviours look like.
There are also 3 worksheets for the children to complete as a follow up to an assembly or during a PSHCE lesson. The worksheets cover creating a poster, identifying positive classroom behaviours and making a pledge to yourself to try to be better at one of the classroom behaviours.

Spot a Friend Behaviour Cards
A set of classroom behaviour cards to be used in the classroom for children to spot other classmates who are displaying positive behaviours.
The whole class can be given the same card so that all children are looking out for the same behaviour or they can have a mixture of cards so that they are looking out for different behaviours. I hand these cards out in the morning and we talk about the behaviours that we are going to be spotting and the children keep the card on their desk throughout the day and when they spot another child displaying the behaviour then they write that child’s name on the card.
At the end of the day we then share the cards and celebrate those children who have been spotted doing the right thing.
These cards encourage children to think about and look out for positive behaviours whilst also engaging in positive behaviours themselves.

A set of 16 positive affirmation sentence starter cards.
These cards include positive affirmations such as I am caring because and I am brave because. Each card starts with I am and children have to complete the sentence. The cards encourage children to talk about themselves in a positive manner.

Sentence Writing Intervention
A sentence writing booster/intervention that can be printed off to create a booklet of activity worksheets for Early Years and Key Stage 1 children who are struggling with sentence writing. The PowerPoint covers five weeks worth of activities and introduces children to 35 of the 100 high frequency words/hfw. Each week covers reading the focus high frequency words, writing the focus words, cutting and sticking words to make a sentence and then writing a dictated sentence.
I have used this activity to encourage children to write sentences with capital letters and full stops and to hold and repeat the sentence in their head.
The intervention helps children to gain confidence when they are writing sentences.
Using Adjectives Intervention
A sentence writing booster/intervention with a focus on using adjectives in sentences. The sheets can be printed off to create a booklet of activity worksheets for Early Years and Key Stage 1 children who need support to improve their writing. The PowerPoint covers five weeks, introduces children to new adjectives and also introduces children to 31 of the 100 high frequency words/hfw.

There are also five worksheets for the children to complete for each season. These worksheets include questions for children to answer about the season, a missing word activity for each season, drawing activities and a months of the year activity for children to indicate when each season occurs.
The PowerPoints and worksheets are aimed at Key Stage 1 children.
Using Conjunctions Writing Intervention/Booster
A sentence writing booster/intervention that can be printed off to create a booklet of activity worksheets for Early Years and Key Stage 1 children who need support to improve their writing. The PowerPoint covers five weeks and introduces children to 34 of the 100 high frequency words/hfw. Each week covers reading the focus high frequency words, writing the focus words, using words to finish a sentence, joining sentences and then writing a sentence including a conjunction. There are 7 or 8 activity sheets for the children to complete each week.
I have used this activity to encourage children to improve their sentences using conjunctions.
The intervention helps children to gain confidence when they are writing sentences.
Using Adjectives Writing Intervention/Booster
A sentence writing booster/intervention with a focus on using adjectives in sentences. The sheets can be printed off to create a booklet of activity worksheets for Early Years and Key Stage 1 children who need support to improve their writing. The PowerPoint covers five weeks, introduces children to new adjectives and also introduces children to 31 of the 100 high frequency words/hfw.
